hello thank you for your question and provided information as well;..based in your question its not interference with the healing but its recommended if you finish the breastfeeding and after get the procedure.
Thank you for your question. I certainly understand your concern. I would suggest you wait until you finish breastfeeding. There are medications that you will be require to take and we certainly don't want anything to interfere with the well being of your baby. Best,Gary Linkov, MD
While breast feeding does not interfere with your healing from surgery, I always recommend that my patients finish breast feeding before having elective surgery if possible. The medications that you're given for your surgery (anesthesia, pain medications) can be passed on to your baby in breast milk. In some cases, I have also had a patient stop breast feeding and feed her baby with frozen milk or formula if necessary until all anesthetic and pain medications are out of her system.
Hello,I recommend that you wait to have rhinoplasty until you are finished breastfeeding. I don't advise going under any type of sedation while breastfeeding since you should not risk the baby ingesting any residual anesthesia that can be passed through breast milk. Enjoy your new baby!Be Well,Michael R. Macdonald, MD, FACS, FRCSC
It is not advisable to undergo general anesthesia and then breast feed. Some of those medications will linger in your body fat and also with a young baby you do not want to add more stress in your life. What if you get a complication and you have to take care of your baby?RegardsDr. J
Once you have discontinued medications following the rhinoplasty, you may breast feed after a few days. Breast pumping can be done in the interim period. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
You would have to get input your your surgeon and pediatrician. I have performed surgery on lactating mothers but would not be comfortable performing it this early after childbirth.
As rhinoplasty is an elective surgery and under general anaesthesia, I would recommend you wait to have the operation once you have stopped breastfeeding. Good luck
Hello and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty is performed using general anesthesia and this can affect breast milk. Most patients can safely do this by pumping breast after surgery and discarding it prior to breast feeding. It is best to consult your OBGYN prior to having surgery. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
We perform rhinoplasty surgery with general anesthetic. If you are breast feeding, some of these medications used to keep you asleep may end up in breast milk. And additional reason to consider waiting for your breast feeding to stop is that many women experience facial swelling for many months after pregnancy. Good luck with your new baby. Dr. Joseph.
