Hard lump under chin after Kybella. Will it go away?

Its not unusual to have some swelling, tenderness, and lumps under your chin post Kybella injection.This can persist up to 6 to 8 weeks.  I would recommend waiting for your 2nd Kybella treatment after everything has settled down which it will over the next few weeks.  Please follow up with your physician if it persists.

Yes, it is completely normal to have lumps and bumps following your Kybella treatment. It means that is is working. It will dissipate with time. Don't worry.

the double chin. Nodules can form after a Kybella treatment and could take up to 2 months for full resolution. Please

This is a normal reaction. In my office we offer complimentary ultrasound treatments after Kybella and SculpSure to help smoothen out any lumps, which are uncommon but sometimes do occur. I recommend that you speak with your doctor about what can be offered to help these lumps go down. Best!

Many patients do experience swelling or the sensation of a "bump" in the area where Kybella was injected.  This should improve gradually on its own.  I recommend that you contact your Dermatologist to let them know that you are experiencing this, and seek their specific recommendations.  Most likely, this bump will be completely gone by the time you're ready for your next injection.

When the Kybella is injected, it causes an inflammatory response that - in conjunction with the actual chemical composition of the product - helps to remove the fat under the chin. A light massage to the area may help to soften things. The good news is that it will go away - it just takes time. It may take up to 6 weeks, in fact. All of this is normal, and if you are otherwise seeing results with the injection it shouldn't stop you from getting another treatment. However, if you are very concerned or hesitant, you can wait for a long period before getting the second treatment just to ensure that the lumps resolve. It is not uncommon to get some small lumps in areas where fat was injected with Kybella. This may be due to an area of congealed fat but could also be something like a firm bruise or calicification.  I would suggest that you get it checked out by the physician who did your injections for any further recommendations. "Lumps" and areas of firmness have been reported after Kybella injection.  They should go away over time.  If these are not improved within another week it is best to see your physician in follow up for these "lumps."

Some swelling or bruising is possible after Kybella, and that can last for a few weeks. If your hard lump doesn’t go away, please consult your injector immediately.
