The capsule is the 'scar' your body forms around your implant. This is a normal part of healing. In some cases the capsule can become tight, causing breast asymmetry, a high riding implant, or pain. This is called a capsular contracture.A capsulotomy involves making an incision in this capsule. This could be done to release a tight capsul, or capsular contracture in a particular area, which can change the position of where the implant sits on your chest. Modifications to the capsule may also be referred to as pocket correction.
Dear kbdee, capsulotomy means the creation of incision in capsule while in pocket correction surgery, surgeon makes changes in implant pocket. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello @kbdee, thank you for your question. It is not the same thing. Generally, when the correction of the pocket is done, it is done for only one breast and it is changed where the prosthesis is located, but the removal of the complete capsule with the prosthesis is not done. To obtain more information and recommendations, it is best to consult one or more board-certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
It depends upon what needs to be done to the pocket. If the pocket is too small and tight, removing the capsule usually takes care of the problem. If the pocket is too large, it can be closed in to be tighter.
These two definitions are not the same. Capsulotomy refers to making an incision into the capsule that surrounds the implant. This may be done for several reasons. I encourage you to discuss your questions with your surgeon. It is important that you feel comfortable and confident in your planned procedures.
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Most likely your breast will return to a very similar appearance as before your augmentation - I would expect your bottoming out to resolve.

Thanks for your question and the photos provided! If you are able to breast feed before your lift, you SHOULD be able to breast feed afterward as well. Make sure you consult with a board plastic surgeon to do your surgery. You may want to consider staging your procedures 1) breast implant...
Absolutely you can have your implants removed without augmenting again. Breast implants have been linked to two different types of cancer per the FDA. With getting a new set, you may be harming yourself with breast implant illness again. This is for both saline and silicone implants. There have...
