Removal of breast implants, intact or ruptured, may have positive implications if patients are symptomatic. A constellation of symptoms associated with breast implant illness, and autoimmune disease are considered when treating patients who have breast implants and are concerned about foreign body reaction. In our office, we begin this journey with a consideration of symptoms and exclusion of obvious autoimmune problems. In many of our patients, en bloc removal of breast implants with capsulectomy is important and beneficial. Further clinical evidence about breast implant illness is evolving and will continue to guide treatment. I would suggest removal if there is a possibility of foreign body reaction.Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Hello @kmcrae8, thank you for your question. Yes, you can have implants removed under local anesthesia. However, it is not recommended because the peaks of local anesthesia are very high and when removing the prosthesis the capsule remains inside which can cause long-term complications if there are health problems related to the implants.. For more information and recommendations is advisable to consult with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
Thank you for sharing your question. Yes you can typically have the implants removed under local after an augmentation mastopexy.
Dear kmcrae8,generally speaking, it is possible to remove implants under local anesthesia. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Yes, it is possible to remove implants under local anesthesia after augmentation and lift, but it may not be recommended. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to see what is best in your situation.
It is possible, but I believe most surgeons would prefer doing such procedure under general anesthesia. GreetingsDr. Galaz
Yes, both saline and silicone implants can be removed under local anesthesia, especially if there is not problem with the capsules, and the gel implants are not ruptured. Saline implants are very easy to remove under local since they can just be drained and removed through a small incision.
Thank you for your question. The treatment for a seroma is drainage. If you continue to have fluid around me implant with unhealed wounds, it can prevent the wounds from healing and potentially lead to an infected implant. Without knowing your exact situation, my recommendation is usually repeat...
Thanks for your question and the photos provided! If you are able to breast feed before your lift, you SHOULD be able to breast feed afterward as well. Make sure you consult with a board plastic surgeon to do your surgery. You may want to consider staging your procedures 1) breast implant...
Absolutely you can have your implants removed without augmenting again. Breast implants have been linked to two different types of cancer per the FDA. With getting a new set, you may be harming yourself with breast implant illness again. This is for both saline and silicone implants. There have...
