I tell my patients that these implants typically last about 10 years, but certainly could have a much shorter or longer life. I don't recommend replacement after 10 years if the implant is serving the patient well. The cost and risks of re-operating, not to mention buying new implants, lead me to recommend vigilance for rupture but not automatic exchange of implants.
Hello, there is no absolute time limit when Natrelle implants must be replaced. If you have a good shape and the implants are soft and asymptomatic, there is no reason to have them exchanged.
I appreciate your question. It is recommended to replace them every 10 years. However, implants do not have a specific lifespan. So if you decide to keep them past 10 years, your plastic surgeon can always order appropriate imaging to check their integrity. The best way to assess and givetrue advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certifiedplastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.Best of luck!Dr. Schwartz
We typically recommend that you consider replacing your implants at 8-10 years. However, if you choose not to, that is entirely up to you. Stay in touch with your PS and if you decide to keep your implants at 10 years, he/she can always order and MRI for you to check the integrity of the implants. Good luck!
Implants don't have a specific lifespan and theoretically should be able to last a lifetime however on average breast augmentation patients have some sort of revisionary procedure after about 10 years. This is more commonly to deal with things like capsular contracture or sagging rather than implant rupture however. Hope that helps!
Modern era silicone gel implants are very durable, certainly much more durable than old silicone implants that were take off the market in 1991, and much more durable than saline implants. Ruptures may occur, but only about 1-2% of these implants will suffer device failures in a 10 year window after placement. It is likely the percentage of rupture will rise over time, but its safe to say that modern silicone gel implants from any of the 3 major manufacturers are pretty darn durable. They do not "expire" or need to be replaced on any kind of schedule, and may well outlast you!
There is no standard for how long an implant will last. For some patients, it is a lifetime. Most manufacturers claim 10 years. It's really going to depend on each individual. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Breast implants do not come with an expiration date, so there is no need to change them at set times. For most women, implants last at least ten years. Do not forget that getting older there may be reasons other than rupture that may make you change your implants, such as having an uplift, and/or adjusting their size.
