4 weeks post Breast Augmentation dual plane 335 cc, could I have symmastia? (photos)

Question

I had dual plane 335cc allergan natrelle high profile round implants placed 4 wks ago ,I visited my surgeon for 2nd post op check up at two weeks , due to see him again Saturday, he applied a red liquid last visit & more steri strips ,not sure what the liquid is or why it was used? Also just want an opinion on how they seem to be healing as he also placed some rolled up gauze in between my breasts and told me to keep it there and now after some research I've done its set alarm bells of symastia?

The selection of size and profile is interesting but there is no evidence that the two implants are sharing the same pocket. You do not have synmastia at present.

Your breasts are indeed very close together at the midline, but the photographs themselves don't reveal symmastia. You are still quite early postop, and you should follow your plastic surgeon's recommendations as things settle down.

Whilst your implants do look rather close together at the moment, there is no evidence that the pockets have joined up in the middle. I would let things settle down for the time being and see what sort of position if you end up with in a few months time.

It's rare to get it so early.  Let the implants settle over 8-10 months and if you still have concerns you'll need to follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Hello mccor88,Thanks for your question.From your photos, it seems like a 335cc HP implant was quite big for your chest wall.Your implants are close together, but I don't see a true symmastia.  The roll in between your cleavage is a trick I use to avoid symmastia in these situations.The red liquid is possibly a skin adhesive that allows the steristrips to stick better to your skin.As far as I can tell your breasts seem to be healing well.Seeing your physician more regularly is wise.I hope this helped?Dr. Shah

Thanks for your question. But my answer is, actually we do not know what is going on ....  Maybe the surgeon can be concerned with the possibilities of bottoming out, asymmetry, etc. including symmastia. 4 weeks is not very long time. You have to talk with your surgeon as long as possible. No doctors here knows how did it go in the OR with your case but your surgeon. Good Luck.

No , you do not have symmastia.  If you did you wouldn't have any cleavage and would have what some refer to as "uni-boob".  The implants are close together, and large, your PS is wanting to prevent symmastia by having you keep the roll in between your breasts.

Your implants are quite close together but you do not have symmastia. If symmastia were present there would be no cleavage depression between your breasts.  The roll may have been an attempt to prevent symmastia. The size of the implant and diameter play an important role in how close the implants are to one another.Best of luck.
