There are no special creams to use after surgery. Some doctors may recommend anti-bacterial ointments. Ask your doctor for specific recommendations.
We have our patients apply Bacitracin ointment (an anti-bacterial ointment that can be purchased over the counter at U.S. pharmacies) daily to their donor site for about one week. By keeping the donor site moist with this ointment, the healing process is quicker. The great news is that the FUE donor site heals quickly, and within a week it is difficult to even tell that hairs were harvested from that region. Thanks for sharing!
Believe it or not, I have found after 22 years that the body does not need help to heal itself after HT. I tell my patients to put nothing on it unless it itches. If it does then put on some vit E on the donor, but not necessary for healing. Dr. Feller
An FUE is treated justlike a regular hair transplant with regard to the recipient area, but the donorarea has open wounds which require daily washing with soap and water. Within 3days of surgery, you can resume full activities, heavy exercises if you wish. The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient areafree of crusts. I generally recommend the use of a sponge and supply my patientwith a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient areadaily. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fearof losing grafts. IF any crust are present, use a Q tip and dip it into soapywater, and roll it on the crusts and that will lift them off without dislodgingthem, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like tosee no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from thedonor area gone in 7-10 days with daily washing. Nothing that you add will accelerate the healing
