I went for a hair transplant at aek 2 years ago. The difference is amazing. I am so happy with the result and only wish I had done it sooner. I was getting to Norwood 6 and through consultation decided that a mega transplant using both fut and fue was the best way forward. The team there transplanted around 11000 hairs which was around 4500 grafts over 2 days. The first few months were hardest while waiting for the results but from month 5 onwards the growth was fantastic. Looking back on ore transplant pictures is like looking at someone else and the best feeling was when I posted a before and 9 month after picture on a review website and someone came ack asking if it was the same person in both pictures.
Based on my great experience at the AEK clinic and the incredible results I had. I can only recommend you Dr. K and his team. I had my hair transplant performed one year ago. After my initial assessment, I immediately realized I’ve made the right choice. The level of expertise, the great care and the attention to the patient made the results I see today possible. Thank you Dr. K!
I was 29, my hairline has receeded by about an inch, and I needed to do something about it. Doctors in the United States were way too expensive, so I contacted AEK. They helped me through the entire process. Booked the hotel for me, picked me up from the hotel, brought me to the clinic multiple times, they've been in contact with my since I left to see how I am. In regards to the procedure, serdar oversaw the operation and his nurses did the work. He kept me informed throughout the whole process, checked in me and made sure everything was great and my questions were answered. The nurses were quick and effecient. The results look great so far. I read another review here of aek with a guy complaining about the nurses, who don't speak English, talking to each other during the 7 hour operation. How ridiculously entitled do you have to be to have issue with that? Lmao. They were great I'm extremely impressed
After around 5 years of putting it off and denying it I've finally gone and had my hair Transplant in Turkey. I found the whole picking a clinic a absolute nightmare as everyone had pro and cons and didn't seem right , in the end I was torn between 2 dr ali emre (aek clinic) and ilker apaydin. After a chat with aek they told me what english centres had told me that I'd be looking at 2 procedures as doing to many grafts damaged the donor area, I felt aek and 2 procedure was the right way to do it.I went for the more expensive package from aek around 500 pound more which involved dr ali doing a lot of the work , this was the only disappointment of my trip as I feel dr ali did not get involved a great deal, his technician did 80%.Aek handled everything fantastic, on whatsapp they replied asap and answered my questions. I was picked up straight away at airport and was in my real nice hotel 30 mins after. The next day was procedure day and I was up early and having breakfast supplied by aek, went to reception and around 5 other patients with me walked to the next building (1 min) which was the clinic, really nice place and great being next door. Signed a few papers and paid and was on the operation table getting my grafts removed hadn't see dr ali yet and was assumed I'd get maximum 2500 grafts or 9000 hairs as agreed on whatsapp, found out at end it was 2100 grafts and 6200 hairs (little upset). Not going to lie the anesthetic was a killer the best way to describe it would be having a dentist filling injection 15 times. After having my donor area opened and removed I was provided dinner then appeared dr ali the draw 2 options to implant them, I had wanted a good hairline but agreed his way was better as I'd not have enough to cover the crown and would still be bald, his way I'm not bald just not a perfect hairline but can get away with that, again anaesthetic on the top killer then dr ali opened up the tops and left his technician to implant, end results look good and I'm looking forward to the regrow, aek did fantastic no problems. My verdict on picking a doctor to do the procedure is don't spend too much time looking at a doctors reviews as they dont carry out much of the work. I'd review the clinics. I'd most definitely recommend aek and select to lower price but mr ali advice changed my mind I'm happy. Aek has a maximum of 4/5 rooms so you no you ain't in no rush rush clinic and they don't risk doing too much.I will be going back to aek for a second just to top up the front and get a nice line , i trust there technician and I'm happy to pay the lower price around 1300. They is very little I know about hair Transplant in turkey I've spend 5 years researching on and off, they are many dodgy ones the rush you in and out, message me if you need help or advice. Pictures to follow. Updated on 7 Aug 2021: Dr Ali emre karadeniz aek clinic Istanbul After years of research I was convinced by aek clinic via email and phone calls that they would provide less grafts with better results . Was told before attending full coverage including a hair line . Once there he told me that was not possible and that his new way would be better . 16 months on I’m seeing little difference and I’m looking to try again else where one more time .. I’d avoid this place feel like iv been robbed Updated on 7 Aug 2021: New picture 16 months after no different After being convinced by aek clinic they would give me the best results I feel let down and have no option but to warn others ... was told before I went I’d get 90% coverage .. 16 months on I’d be surprised if it’s 5%
Firstly I'm 45 years old and have even losing my lovely hair for the last 25 years. It was really gradual and only Really recognized that I was just slick bald when I grew the 2 or 300 hairs out that were left on my head. I did look a bit of a dill, just like the Egyptians I was in denial. Anyway let's just say I was bricking it. Just the thought of going somewhere and getting surgery. I did my research and wanted Hasson and Wong in Canada, you may have seen the u tube vids on the guy getting a hair transplant. I sent them my pics, waited, got a consultant to call me back. The conversation lasted about a minute and the guy told me that they wouldn't do it because of not enough donor area. The guy sounded rushed and that was that. Side note: don't listen to the western pricks they just can't be bothered and will crush your spirit. I had another guy in Los Angeles that said that he could do it but it would be about $10 a graph and I'd need about 10,000 graphs. Well, I didn't have the money for that so I started looking around and doing some research. Looked at S. America, as I live in Florida and then Thailand because I really wanted to go lol. And then I found Turkey, the Mecca of hair transplants. The promise you a full head of hair for nearly nothing. I had a couple consults with different clinics and found AEK- Dr. K. The reason why I went with him is he's American BoardCertified and lives in Turkey. He had some good reviews and some bad reviews- mainly because people were saying he's arrogant. That didn't bother me. He wasn't the cheapest by far and I wanted to do FUT because I was so follicley challenged and I'd heard FUT could produce more follicles. I needed every little one of them. After a few phone consults I sent him the $500 deposit and booked my ticket to Turkey. I got on a plane and took the 11 or so hour flight to Istanbul. I got picked up by a nice driver in a big people carrier. He waited for me to get a coffee and a new sim for my American phone, it doesn't work otherwise. It took about half an hour to get to the hotel. I checked in and the hotel restaurant stayed open late so I could get a bite to eat. Nice. I got met at the hotel lobby the next day by an assistant Gouch and we walked to an apartment complex. Now I've got to be honest I was a bit skeptical because I had $4k on me in cash. I'd only just met this lady and we'd only talked on the phone. We went up to the 4th floor and went into a flat, it looked clean, there was nobody there. It was totally sketchy however I gave my money to Gouch and she started counting it and then I saw through one of the doors that there was a person sitting there getting their procedure done. Which put my mind at rest and then I met Dr. K and we talked a little while. I found him to be nice and knowledgeable about what he did. I told him what I wanted and then he told me what to expect. He then drew on my head to show where they would put the graphs. The procedure was going to be the next day. The next day I was met by Gouch. And we walked up to the apartment again. She gave A pair of medical booties to put on and I had to take my shirt off and put a medical smock on. The operating area was very clean and empty at the time. I was nervous but I had a Xanax during breakfast so I was pretty chill. The doctor came in and so did probably five Assistance. I was told to sit down on something like a dentist chair and one of the assistance started injecting the painkiller into my head. They had one of those tens units and it hurts but not crazy bad once that was done I was told to lie on my front and then they started to cut the back of my head. The assistance gathered around me and put their hands on my back probably to stop me from jumping up but it felt reassuring. It didn't hurt but it did make a bit of a noise that went on for a little while. Once that was done the doctor applied the staples around the cut and then they bandaged it and turned me around. After that they started injecting the rest of my head there must've been at least 20 injections. Some hurt and some didn't, they used the tens unit and that took the sting out of the majority of them. The doctor then started cutting the incisions to put the graphs in. Time flew by must've been a couple of hours and then they fed me lunch, which was nice. It was meat, salad and a soup. Once lunch was over we went straight back to it. The assistants started doing their microscope work and the others put the graphs in my head. The techs seemed jolly and to enjoy their work. There was no TV only a log fire looking video but there was music and it seemed to pass the time ok. And btw- it was a very long day. I got there at 9am and left about 7:30pm. Before leaving they washed my swollen noggin and went over some after care procedures. Dr. K said he put in around 5000 graphs. I walked back to the hotel and had some room service. The next day all I did was lie around and watch Netflix. The day after that I was met by Gouch and she walked me back to the clinic no they washed my head and changed my bandage. We went over the after care procedure again and use Dr. K. He said I would get very very swollen in my face in the next couple of days, so I expected the worst. He wished me well and that was that. I left Turkey about 3 days later. I DID take some turmeric in capsule form and also drank it with some coconut milk 2 days after the surgery and continued to take it. I think it made a hell of a difference because I had NO facial swelling. At all! I was very surprised by this and relieved. A couple of things I found: a good quality neck pillow is imperative- otherwise don't expect any sleep. Your head is going to sweat a lot. It's weird. Also your head is totally numb. For like months. Don't worry about feeling self-conscious in Turkey. There are guys everywhere you go with bandages on. The hotel looked like a butcher shop lol. Not all we're going to Dr. K- there are so many clinics around. Try and take a much time off as possible to give yourself time to heal. And get back to sleeping better. The hotel was great, the procedure was fine, it hurt but I think is was worth it. I'm going back for a second one in January again. I thought Dr K was professional and knew what he was doing. I'd recommend him totally. If you want warm and cuddly don't go there, but if you want loads of hair on your head without any problems AEK is the way to go.
I had my hp done on 16th april 2019 at aek clinic. Day prior i had my consultation with dr k in which he drew the proposed hairline. Consultation is very important as dr k will give his advise but you can obviously not go with dr k recommendation with the plan. I chose to go with dr recommended hairline as he has vast experience on how it should look according to hair loss shape and future pla ning. Dr k sat with me for around 30 mins during consultation phase. He is very passionate person who really cares about the quality of work . Next day on 16th april i had my hp done. I am not going to pretend that it was painless and easy and comfortable because it wasnt but i wasnt expecting it to be . No pain no gain as they say! Please make sure u have a big big breakfast as you will need strength and energy during the hp. Sasha picked me up from the hotel and we walked the clinic which was only 5 mins walk . A massive thanks to sasha he is very friendly and puts you at ease. Technicians were very experienced and they had excellent skills so thank you . There were three people who worked on me in my room during whole 9 hours of treatment.they were v attentive and their skills of the work they did on me was very neat like an artist . very pleased so far. Dr k team managed to implant 7200 hairs which is around 3000 grafts as you pay for section not hair numbers. I dont know how the results will be but i am doing this review before the full results. I am on day 15 since my hp and its looking good so far. will need another hp done in the future to cover my crown area but this hp focused mostly on creating an hairline and and a little middle section of the scalp. Its not possible to do everything in one go if u have a bigger hair loss throughout. next day i came in for a hair wash which took around 30 mins and watched after care video . Took some notes as well for aftercare requirements. Dr k also seen me after my hairwash to see how it looked on day 1 . I spoke to dr d for 30 mins which was v important to me so thank you .gokse who is another exployee the admin side was helpful in arranging getting picked up and dropped off from airport as well as payment side of things. Sasha . Gokce and dr k and technicians were grt so thank you. I would have given 5 stars but the after care service was very disappointing as its been day 15 and i havent heard from aek on how i am getting on with everything. The first week is important for the clinic to check back but they haven't messaged or phoned me to see how i am or to send pictures etc. I am also dissatisfied with the aftecare lotion and shampoo i feel that they should have provided saline spray and shampoo foam to clean ur hair as its v difficult using their products and made uneasy. Please aek work on this as i would have given you 5 stars . Everything else was grt from pick up from airport and getting dropped off. During the trip to Istanbul you can message gokce who is v prompt at replies. Silence hotel is also a grt place to stay which is walking distance to the clinic. Looking forward to the results. Thank you Updated on 1 May 2019: See below photos. Post 15 days post op. 7500 hairs. 3000 grafts This was with aek clinic with dr k. The focus was on hair line and the link to middle scalp. I will need a second procedure to get crown completed .so far pleased with how it is looking .
I would like to recommend Dr. Ali Emre Karadeniz and the great team they have there at the AEK Hair Clinic. I paid an all inclusive price which included the procedure, a luxury transfer from and to the airport and also staying two nights at a 5 star hotel which is about 3 min walk from the clinic. This made everything very easy and comfortable. More specifically I carried out a limited shaven FUE procedure (1500 grafts) at the AEK Hair Clinic. Given my job it was not feasible to shave my head completely so instead they shaved 2 strips at the back of my head, the hair above was left long as to cover the shaved areas, this works great and is hardly noticeable. One other thing I was particularly impressed by is the skill of the technicians working at the clinic, they were able to reinforce my frontal hairline even behind my current hairline without shaving. Much more expensive clinics in the UK are not able to do this which is a great testament to their skill. The limited shaving FUE procedure is really a winner for those who want to be more discreet about undergoing a hair transplant. If you are doubting which clinic to use I can only say choose AEK you wont regret it.
I would like to submit a positive experience and results with AEK Hair Institute for a partially shaven FUE hair transplant procedure with approximately 3500 transplanted hairs. I consulted with several other clinics regarding the procedure, however I opted for AEK Hair Institute because they were more proactive than other clinics with their responses and information. I also felt confident from their responses that they were able to carry to the partially shaven FUE that I required. I visited the clinic December 2018 and I was collected at the airport and taken to a Five Star hotel. Both services were provided for as part of the package. The hotel was very close to the clinic and I was collected by Gokce early on the day of the surgery and was taken to the clinic. Gokce and the staff at the clinic were excellent and I felt looked after throughout the surgery and the day after. I was a little concerned about the surgery, however it was generally pain free and although it was a long day and there was a little discomfort it was worth it. I started experiencing new growth around 4-5 months and by 6-7 months my hair was starting to look amazing. My hair didn’t really change from approximately 8-10 months but over the last few months I have experienced more density and the appearance of my hair is far greater than I ever imagined. I have suffered from anxiety and worry about the appearance of my hair for years and I have battled with treatment options from finasteride, minoxidil and other treatment options with limited success. If I had known a transplant would have made the difference and would have been that easy I would have done it years ago. Deciding to have a hair transplant was one of the biggest decisions of my like and I couldn’t have made a better decision than choosing AEK Hair Institute. I have included a number of photographs showing my hair prior to the surgery, after the surgery and at various time over the last year. If you are considering the clinic then you will not be disappointed. I recently returned to Australia from Istanbul having undergone a FUE hair transplant at AEK Clinic. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience at the clinic and with Dr Ali. From my initial communications with representatives of the clinic I was put at ease with the clinic’s professionalism and hair transplant expertise. On arrival to the clinic I was impressed with the cleanliness of the clinic and how staff handled everything. They are absolute professionals who take pride in their work. Every step of the hair transplant process was explained, I was told how the day would run and provided detailed after-care instructions (as well as a goodie bag with after care essentials such as shampoo, moisturiser, a hat and medicines). Everything was explained clearly and all my questions were answered. The staff also did a great job at making me comfortable. Breakfast was waiting when I arrived, a wifi password was provided before I requested it and they took great care of me. Gokce, in particular, is incredible - a huge asset to the clinic! Meeting with Dr Ali was great as he is enthusiastic about hair transplants and is an expert on the subject. He was very honest in his views and I was happy to let him advise on the best look I could achieve with a transplant. The surgery itself was long (8-9 hours) but we took a short break for lunch. I listed to music for much of the time. The surgery itself was painless. I was really impressed with the finished product because it was neat and quite clean. They were meticulous in transferring each hair and so the result looked natural. After the surgery I went to my hotel where I had a follow up appointment the next day (the bandage over my donor area was removed and my scalp was gently cleaned). Staying at a hotel next to the clinic was extremely convenient and I was impressed with the hotel itself. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was great. Also, there was a large shopping mall next to the clinic and Silence Hotel – I would definitely advise anyone visiting Turkey to check the mall out as the Turkish clothing stores are excellent. Really high quality clothes, awesome fashion and at very reasonable prices. Shopping quietly was a nice way to spend the day after surgery. Food was delicious. Overall, I could not be happier with my hair transplant experience at AEK Clinic and with Dr Ali. It has been nearly three weeks since my surgery and my head is looking good. The donor area is healed up and my transplant looks neat and clean. Although my new hairs will not grow out for at least 3-4 months, I am so happy with my AEK experience. The team at the clinic is incredible. To anyone considering getting a hair transplant in Turkey I would highly recommend it. In particular, I would say that you cannot go past AEK clinic and Dr Ali. They are world-class and so good at what they do.
Like with most people I was so confused and didn't know what is the best option for me. I choose Dr Ali Emre K because he was the only doctor I found that could do the FUT method (Strip) and he did most of the survey himself. Omer was my first point of contact and he provided me with the initial re-assurance I needed. Quality was the most important factor for me and as FUT offers around 20% better quality grafts I opted for this procedure, although Dr Ali Emre does both FUT and FUE. Dr Ali Emre, designs the hairline, removes the strip and makes the incistions for the hairs. The technicians then obtains the initial hairs strip and then inserts the hairs. I have to say I was 'bricking it' not knowing whether he was genuine whether the reviews were genuine. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised given that I am so fussy. In order for you to have a consultation you need to arrive in Turkey a day before preferably before 4:00pm to have a consultation. I had already booked my tickets so had the consultation via whatsapps instead, which I know was a bit brave. But it just gave me some re-assurance that he was genuine. The day of the operation I was really nervous, Gokce picked me up (she was really helpful) and when I have arrived Dr Ali Emre put me at ease. He asked me what I wanted and he was very honest and advised what would be best for me rather what would be best for him or is practice and he advised me accordingly. The clinic although in a residence complex is fully equipped and very clean. Be prepared for a long day and if you do, then you will be able to manage it much better. I closed my eyes and thought of England. Some people don't like the fact that technicians are talking but to be honest I don't mind that at all, as it must be a long day for them too and the less bored they are, they are more likely to take their time and do a better job. I originally planned to go on my own, but my wife insisted she need to come along, and I am glad she did. So I would recommend to come with someone just for peace of mind, whether it is a friend, brother, or a sister. The hotel was really good, nice food and was next door to the clinic which was very handy. There were others who had hair transplants there so you didn't feel out of place. It also had a shopping complex next door (which kept my wife occupied), with a large food court upstairs! I would also recommend to stay a couple days after the procedure as the 48 hours after the procedure is the most crucial and you do not want to have an accident and you. The procedure was painless, which I was pleased about, the only part where there was some pain was with the anaesthetic in the front of my head but that was minimum and lasted seconds. You have painkillers to take so I felt no pain, just some itchiness afterwards. Sleeping was the worse part not because of the pain but simply not wanting to touch my new hair so slept on my back which was uncomfortable. I am taking off the head band tomorrow and then a few days later the staples so I will be home and dry. Then it is just waiting for the results. The problem I found was that it is difficult to get information on how the procedures have worked because obviously people are conscious of sharing images about a very sensitive subject. Unfortunately, I am no different but I will provide 6 monthly, 9 monthly and a 12 month updates. However, I have stated that if someone wants to have a chat about the experience if I am given their number I will contact them to answer anything the above didn't cover.
Graft numbers are very deceiving. A graft is a piece of skin. We could theoretically take an unlimited number of pieces skin from the scalp. The smaller pieces we take the more grafts there will be. However, the goal in hair restoration surgery isn't getting grafts (pieces of skin), it is to get hairs for coverage. Therefore, we should estimate total donor capacity in number of hairs, not grafts. This requires a live examination calculating donor density, skin laxity, surface area etc. Even then, we would not be able to give a conclusive number; this would be a very rough estimate, since there are many parameters that we can not fully control, like hair loss progression, transection rates during surgery, recovery of skin laxity after the first procedure, the appearance after a certain amount of hairs are removed from the donor area. This is a very complex task and giving quick answers and exact numbers should be seen as a sign of unprofessionalism.
The Norwood classification at a given time isn't as important as many people think for the following reasons: 1. It doesn't take into consideration the progression of hair loss, so if we are to use this classification, we should try to guess what class the hair loss is going to progress to. For example, a 20-year-old seemingly Norwood 3 patient may actually be progressing to a Norwood 6-7, thus the surgical planning should be done considering the class that will eventually occur. 2. The classification does not dictate surgical options. The assessment of surgical options is a very sophisticated process, including evaluating the patients donor capacity and the surgeons skills. As a general guide, I would suggest using just three classes depending on considering many parameters; mild, moderate and advanced hair loss. You certainly have advanced hair loss and the treatment plan should be done accordingly.
The range of growth you could see at this month in our experience is 30-90%. As you can see this is a large range. There are slow and fast growers, so I recommend waiting a full 12 months before drawing any conclusions.
It looks like you have skin necrosis at the recipient area. This is a rare complication unless you are a heavy smoker or you have uncontrolled diabetes. The most frequent cause is too deep/large/densely performed recipient incisions that impairs local blood supply. It is see more frequently when unlicensed technicians do surgery instead of a doctor. It is probably going to eventually heal on its own without requiring a treatment. The result is going to be a scar with lack of hair growth in that region. The area could be transplanted again about a year after it has healed.
A live examination is required for a conclusive evaluation, however, that frontal region and crown looks like it would be better to treat the thinning using medication and not surgery. There seems to be a significant amount of thinning hairs that could be thickened via medical treatment using minoxidil and/or finasteride, while avoiding surgery which could damage the existing hairs and make it even worse. Transplanting the hairline could be done as there is nothing to shave. The FUT (strip) method could be used to avoid shaving most of the dreadlocks at the donor area.
