I had undergone gynecomastia surgery 10 days ago.My doctor said it was type 3 gynecomastia. Now i have weird looking scar on my nipples. Will it get better and normal. Also my left chest is bigger than right chest. My doctor said to wait for 3 months.
Answer: Gynecomastia 10 days ago Dear vranjan90, Thank you for your question. At 10 days post op you are still very early on in the healing process. As your surgeon said, you need to wait at least 3 months to make any judgements and often times healing can take even longer. It is not uncommon for one side to be more swollen than the other. Make sure you are carefully following your surgeons instructions, and if you have any concerns set up and appointment with them. Best of luck with your healing!

Answer: Post op Gynecomastia Surgery 10 days is way too soon to see your results. Your surgeon is right, you need to wait 3 months or even more before you will see your final result as the swelling goes down. Try to be patient. Good luck.

Answer: 10 days after surgery It is very early in your recovery and the incisions are frequently a little puckered and swelling can be more prominent on one side than the other. The first 3 months is the early stages of healing and inflammation. It can be 6 months to a year for scars to heal and fade. A minimum of 3 months is a correct time to wait and see what resolves and changes. Follow all of the surgeons instructions and wear your compression vest regularly.

Answer: Weird scarring Thank you for your question. Ten days is very early to assess scar quality. The problem with approaching gynecomastia via an incision under the nipple/areola is that as the incision heals, the scar can adhere to the underlying tissue and distort the appearance of the nipple and create an "operated upon" look. Approaching the breast from an incision off the breast avoids this. As far as asymmetry is concerned, it is possible that the gland was incompletely resected, however, allow for some time for healing and resolution of swelling before getting concerned. Keep in good contact with your surgeon and let him or her know of your concerns. Best Wishes Dr. Morrissey

Answer: Male breast surgery. Your surgeon is correct. You have to wait at least a couple of months. It will get much better , but will evolve slowly over a longer period of time. You should be wearing a compression garment. All the best,Talmage Raine MD
