Thank you for your question. Your question is a very common one. The answer depends upon how you feel the gynecomastia is affecting you. Once gynecomastia sets in, it tends not to go away on its own or with exercise. THere is no medication that reduces gynecomastia. Surgery is directed at the fatty and glandular components of gynecomastia. Both must be addressed to completely treat the condition.
Fat, once removed, will not regrow. Fat grows when you add calories, and shrinks when you deprive it of calories. It does not multiply. Gland removal is really gland reduction as it is impossible to remove every breast gland cell. Any remaining glandular tissue may respond to hormones, natural or man made (anabolic steroids).

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on your photos, you appear to be correct on both points. let me explain. Gynecomastia consists of two components, fat and excessive glandular tissue. The glandular tissue (yes, men have breast glands) is influenced by hormonal effects. My theory, is that steroids and antibiotics used in the food chain (meat and poultry industry) get in our system and exert their effects. Unfortunately, short of going off the grid and growing your own food, it is difficult to avoid these effects.
Surgery to address gynecomastia must approach both the fatty and glandular components of the condition. Liposuction will remove the fat, but will not address the glandular component, as this tissue is more dense than fat and will not suck out through the liposuction cannula. This must be directly excised.
If both components are not addressed, the effect of surgery will be disappointing.

Thank you for your question and I am sorry for what you are going through. Free nipple grafting is a technique used in the reduction of very large breasts when the blood supply to the nipple is questionable. This technique is typically discussed with the patient BEFORE surgery so that the woman can consider this possible option. It is highly irregular for this technique to be performed without discussing with the patient. If this technique is to be considered, it is obvious at the time of consultation and is not a "Surprise finding at the time of surgery".
I find this very concerning that a surgeon would do this without your consent or even discussing it with you before surgery. You may consider a complaint with your state medical board.

From your question, it appears you have jumped through all the hoops that insurance requires before approving breast reduction surgery, ie: PT, chiropractic, weightloss and have serious issues related to the size of your breast. You most certainly are a good candidate and at your young age, surgery at this time would avoid more serious neck and back problems down the road. Seek out an experienced, Board Certified plastic surgeon in your area who will advocate for you to the insurance company and don't give up.. Insurance companies delay and deny to get you to give up. Cuz when you do, they win. You keep paying premiums and they don't pay out for the care that you need. As they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"

Thank you for your question and photos. You have very nice, natural breasts with no ptosis or droop. You absolutely do not need a breast lift. If you are looking for more volume, a modest size implant would provide that. But in my opinion ( 19 years a plastic surgeon) you look great and don't need to do a thing. Unfortunately, nothing short of surgery can correct gynecomastia. There are no medicines that can shrink the male breast, or female for that matter.
A short surgery with an incision in the armpit can remove the fatty component as well as the gland behind the nipple to obtain a flatter, more masculine appearance.

Thank you for your question and photos. If you are happy with your size, a breast lift would be worth looking into. Really, the difference in a lift vs a reduction is the amount of tissue removed. The incision pattern is the same. You will be able to have some upper pole fullness with a lift. Consult with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss all your options. You won't regret it.

Thank you for your question and photo. From your photo, your breasts appear pretty symmetric in terms of size. There does appear to be "droopiness" that is, the breast skin rests on the skin of the upper abdomen. To give you upper pole fullness and more volume a breast lift with augmentation may be considered. The implants will give you the volume you seek and the lift will reposition the nipple/areolae complex over the implant and take in loose skin to give the upper pole fullness.

Dr. Morrissey and his staff turned what started as a very stressful experience into an amazing journey. After having implants for almost 27 years; I suffered a collapsed implant. I had so many questions, fears and concerns, but after my first visit - I knew I found the right surgeon and staff to take care of me. They had such patience with me as I asked all of my questions. Dr. J. Michael Morrissey was the PERFECT fit for me. I was looking for a very skilled doctor in the particular procedure I was needing. I have Scoliosis and was suffering with back pain to the point of almost complete debilitation. I wanted a reduction, however I also was looking for a lift .
