How to fix a dent due to overdo Liposuction? (photos)

correction of post-liposuction defects make up 80% of my practice. I see patients with varying degrees of defects almost on a daily basis. cellulite prone areas and abdomen are the two most common areas affected with over-zealous liposuction. if the indentation was there before the procedure then the treatment would be slightly different than if it happened after the procedure. either way you will need a procedure to improve this defect.

Fat grafting with or without subcision of the area is the only treatment for this.  Seek a different physician who specializes in revision cases.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Sorry to hear that you have a dent.  As  other surgeons pointed out, we will need to see pre-op photos to see whether the dent existed prior to your liposuction.  If the "dent' is due to overcorrection from liposuction, the only treatment will be from fat injection/grafting.  Unfortunately, building muscle or exercising will not correct your problem.  

We need 'proof' as in a before photo showing the dent! If you did have a 'dent' pre operatively than this should have been discussed as a possible post op issue. If you were my patient I would pony charge for facility fee of $750. But you are not ! SO pay the $$s and hope for the best result. As for other options - there are NONE....

First if the dent was not present prior to surgery and caused by the liposuction then I would select another plastic surgeon who is board certified to fix the problem.  This is difficult to fix and should not have happened in the first place if the surgeon is skilled at liposuction.  This is created by overly aggressive removal of the fat in the superficial layer of the fat and scar adhesion of the skin to the deeper layers.  If this was present before the liposuction then attempt at releasing the adhesions causing the dent and fat grafting would have been the correct treatment not more liposuction. Exercise will not correct this deformity.  The scar adhesion needs to be released and new fat placed to correct this.  It may require several treatments to fix this problem. 

Thanks for writing,I agree with my peers, one would need to see the pre-op liposuction photos to determine if this was there before surgery. Preop photos are need to determine if the dent existed before surgery.  Unfortunately only fat grafting will fix the issue and exercise will not help.

This dent may or may not have been there before your liposuction, but it will not improve with exercise.  Fat transfer is the best way to improve this.
