Question

My belly is far from being flat. My doctor (nor from us) says it scar tissue that’s swollen and it should go down. And I also have severe itching on and off during the day. I don’t know if I will ever have a flat abdomen and if it’s actually swelling? And also what’s the itching all about? Can somebody please help me how can I reduce the itching? It’s very uncomfortable as summer is approaching and I wear the compression garment all the time.

Itching can occur as nerves are regenerating and healing resolves.  Cold compresses may help and there are medications available if it becomes severe.  It can take up to one year to see your final results from a tummy tuck, though you should see an improvement at this stage of healing. It is difficult to comment further on your progress without an exam or pre operative photos.

The itching is likely from the nerves growing back. Sometimes topical antiitching cream can help. Abdomen swelling make take 3 months or more to resolve.
