Hello, and thank you for your question regarding whether you’re a good candidate for a mommy make-over. Thank you for your question and your history. This is an extremely difficult question to answer without a physical examination or any pictures. If you are healthy, you may be a “good” candidate for a mommy make-over. If you have any medical conditions, these conditions may increase your risk for complications. However, usually the breast surgery and tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedures can be combined. Whether you need a breast lift (mastopexy) depends on the current position of the nipple-areolar complex in relation to the breast. Whether you need a breast lift also depends on the size of the implant you select. The bigger the breast implant, usually the less breast lift that is needed. However, most women who have lost 75 pounds and have had two children require an anchor mastopexy. The best way to get upper breast volume back is with a breast implant. There are silicone implants and saline implants. Implants can be placed above the muscle, below the muscle, or in a dual plane between both muscles. To correct for asymmetry, this will depend on what is asymmetric. Do you have excess breast skin or different-sized breasts? If so, this can be compensated for either during the mastopexy procedure or using asymmetric breast implants. In conclusion, you need a physical consultation. Many plastic surgeons offer free virtual consultations. I hope I’ve answered your question regarding whether you’re a good candidate for a mommy make-over. Good luck. If you have any more questions regarding tummy tucks, abdominoplasties, or abdominal liposuction, contact an experienced plastic surgeon. Since the tummy tuck surgery is a big procedure, please seek an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon with significant experience in performing tummy tucks. Do your research. If you cannot find an experienced tummy tuck plastic surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen, MD, MBA, FACS, FICS.
