I just had a "mommy makeover" about 6 day ago. I'm sure I have a yeast infection. Is it ok to take a monistate?

For my mommy make over I had breast implants and a tummy tuck. My drain have been taking out. I'm very sensitive when on antibiotics and am pretty sure I have a yeast infection. I just want to know is it ok to take a monistate ( spelling possibly off) to fix.

Yeast infections can occur with antibiotic therapy after cosmetic procedures. I generally prescribe diflucan but Monistat should be fine. Please consult with your surgeon though.

Congratulations on having undergone the mommy makeover procedures. The use of antifungal medications will likely not be a problem; best to run your concerns/questions by your plastic surgeon who knows your situation best and is ultimately responsible for your care. Best wishes.

Please notify your PS office about your symptoms.  Many women who are predisposed to yeast vaginitis candevelop it, given the necessary and sufficient conditions.  Pre-op, we usually try to elicit a prior history of yeast infections and instruct patients to let us know if they develop the condition but that Monistat dual pack, vaginal suppositories and cream are equally effective as Diflucan. Yes, topical Mobistar is usually fine, but if you call your surgeon they may prescribe you oral diflucan which may work more efficiently.  Congratulations on completing your surgery and good luck.

If you are experiencing problems after your surgery you should consult your treating physician.  It is very important to make the proper diagnosis before treatment is begun.  If a yeast infection is diagnosed

If your experience in the past has been to get a yeast infection when on antibiotics, I would be very comfortable treating you with a short course of oral antifungal to clear up the issue.Foams and creams are effective, but usually much more trouble and messy than a pill.Best of luck.

It should be safe t take either Monistat cream or Diflucan for your yeast infection.  Let your surgeon know your situation.  If you are presently on an antibiotic, this may be contributing to the yeast infection.  they may want to stop or change it.  Best wishes, Dr Lepore.
