ACL reconstruction after tummy tuck and breast augmentation?

Question

Hello: I have a question about surgery timing. I am having a tummy tuck and breast augmentation next week. However, I also need an ACL reconstruction, will go with hamstring instead of patellar since the scar will be smaller and I am no longer going to be playing sports that could increase the risk of ligament failure. How soon do doctors recommend having another surgery? I am taking time off from work (vacation accumulation) to get all this done since my knee is no longer stable.

Most patients feel relatively normal at 6 weeks after a mommy makeover and are no longer having issues with abdominal weakness and soreness. You should be fine to proceed with the knee surgery after  6 weeks as long as you heal normally from your first procedure.

There is no right or wrong answer. I would recommend waiting at least six weeks. Speaking to your orthopedic surgeon also be advisable to get his or her take on your healing process for your ACL and the completion of your recovery from that operation

Give yourself plenty of time to recuperate. Do not underestimate what will be required of you as you rehab your knee. I would suggest 8 weeks between the procedures. Good luck

The ultimate decision will be made by your surgeon's. With an uneventful recovery I don't see why the knee surgery could not be performed six weeks after the mommy makeover.

I think you should give yourself at least 6 and preferably 8 weeks of recovery from your tummy tuck before you undergo your knee surgery.  Your gait following your knee surgery will very likely change during the time of your rehabilitation.  This will put different stresses on your core than you currently experience.  It would be best if you were fully recovered from your tummy tuck before you undergo your knee surgery.  Any type of surgery as the potential for postoperative complications and possible infection.  Hopefully your knee surgery will be uneventful.  In the unusual case however that you should develop a postoperative infection your recent augmentation may be at risk for an infection.  It will be very important to closely monitor the wounds associated with her knee surgery
