As soon as I get up in the morning, my tummy contracts and gets very tight. Is this normal after an abdominoplasty?

Thank you for your question. What you are experiencing is not uncommon. It takes 8 to 12 weeks for this tightness and swelling to improved. This occurs from tightening the abdominal muscles and the tissues to relax. Please be patient- it will get better.

Thanks for your question. Yes, we do hear this complaint from time to time about the muscle layer feeling tight for quite some time after surgery. This is due to repairing the abdominal wall muscle layer (diastasis) and it tends to fade over about 6-12 weeks. I'd suggest keeping up w/ your PS to be sure. Best wishes

What you’re feeling is normal as your abdominal muscles are getting used to their tightened state. The feeling will eventually lessen as you recover.

 This is very common after a tummy tuck. Just get up gradually and gently in the morning and you will find this will resolve with time.
