Tummy tuck incision peeled and turning pink (Photo)

Question

My tummy tuck incision was healing. I am 11 days post op. BUT... now it's peeling and turning pink, just on one side that the JP drain is on. 1.) What causes this? 2.) Can I use neosporin? I am going back to my PS, just thought I'd ask a quick question.

Thanks for your inquiry and want your are seeing is very common,  I would recommend dry dressing now, but ask your doctor about neosporin, good luck at your appointment.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  It appears that you have a very superficial separation no your incision which is best treated by keeping it moisturized and covered with a clean gauze.  Definitely inform your surgeon so that they can follow you along closely to ensure this heals without further incident.  Best wishes!

Do not worry this is normal looks like you are healing well, I tell my patients not to apply any ointments just keep it dry and covered with gauze.Best wishes.

Thanks for the question and photo.  It looks like normal healing to me with only some superficial sloughing.  It is best to allow your PS to give you instructions with regard to care of your incision.  Making sure your hands are very clean when applying ointment, and keeping your incision protected with gauze are basic steps to prevent infection.  Hope your healing goes well!

This is not uncommon and typically minor in nature. You can use some topical antibiotic ointment with a gauze covering until you see your doctor
