There are a few fillers that work well under the eyes. Juvederm would not be my top choice in this area as it tends to pull in more water than some of the other fillers which may make the eyes look too puffy. I prefer Belotero and Restylane for injection under the eyes. I also use a microcannula to minimize the risks of swelling and bruising. Choose your injector wisely, as an experienced injector will know which filler and techniques to use to give you the best results. Best wishes.
Dear Acagold,As mentioned in the previous posts, Juvaderm is not the best option for under the eye as it retains water and may cause swelling. Restylane works great under the eyes. Using a cannula is very beneficial for fillers as there will be less swelling and bruising for the recovery and I highly recommend it. Best regards, Nima Shemirani
There are many combinations of fillers and lasers that can be used to help improve tear troughs. Juvederm can sometimes cause significant swelling. Restylane and Belotero are good choices for this area. I recommend you get a formal consultation with someone experienced in fillers and who uses all types to determine which is the best one for you. I recommend using cannulas, which limits bruising and swelling. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question! My response, though, would be a resounding "no" don't have Juvederm placed in your tear troughs. I have seen patients who have had another injector place Juvederm in the tear troughs and it always turns out badly. Juvederm attracts a lot of water and, as the Juvederm starts to metabolize, the tear troughs become lumpy and uneven. There is hope, though! My favorite filler to use in the tear trough area is Volbella. My injector, Dr. Kelly Collins, has found that Volbella gives smooth even results and settles beautifully in this area. Volbella has also been FDA approved to last up to a year. Wishing you so much bliss on your journey!
Thank you for your question. The best filler for the tear trough area is Restylane. This is because Juvederm tends to lead to persistent swelling under the eyes. Cannulas work great in this area because it helps limit bruising and swelling. I recommend having a consultation with an expert injector to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck
Technically, Juvederm can be used off-label for the undereye area but it is not the best choice for that area. Juvederm tends to absorb a large amount of fluid after injection and can leave your cheeks and eyelids looking unnaturally puffy and irritated. Therefore anyone who chooses to inject juvederm must know the safest places to inject and to use the minimal amount to compensate for the swelling which can occur days later. I prefer Restylane and Belotero for the under-eye areas for a natural blended look. It is best to have an in-office examination to determine the safest and most effective treatment options for your particular facial anatomy. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD Plastic Surgery
Juvederm is a very poor filler for under the eyes. It attract too much water and leaves swelling around the eyes for years. I like to use Restylane or Restylane Refyne around the eyes. The newer product Refyne leads to less swelling than the Restylane but is doesn't fill the deficits as well. This is an advanced injection technique and I always use cannulas for this to minimize bruising, swelling, and risks.
Hyaluronic acid fillers do well under the eyes to help fill in the hollowness. Juvederm can cause swelling under the eye area, therefore, I prefer to use Restylane in that area for best results.
The only filler in the Juvederm family that I would consider injecting under the eyes would be Juvederm Volbella. Ultra and XC would not produce ideal results. Different HA fillers have different consistencies, which make them suited for particular areas of the face. In layman's terms, Ultra and XC are just too thick for this area. Other fillers that work well for this purpose are Restylane Silk and Belotero. This can be a difficult area to inject, so be sure you are receiving treatment from a very experienced injector.
I prefer Restylane or Belotero under the eyes. I usually will inject with a micro-cannula to give the safest and smoothest treatment. Make sure that you see an experienced physician injector for this delicate area.Regards,Dr. Ort
