Is it safe to sit for long periods of time after BBL?

Thank you for your question. My patients use the boppy/booty pillow for 2-3 weeks. Sit upright when going to the bathroom. I would not recommend you sit for prolonged periods of time for at least 2 weeks after the procedure. Review with your Surgeons your post op instructions and follow his recommendations. Best wishes

    Every plastic surgeon will have a different opinion on this.  It will be imperative to reduce the risk of fat necrosis due to pressure in the early postoperative period.  I have developed several paradigms to hep with this.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

If you are sitting correctly, using the posterior part of your thighs, there should be no problem at all.

There are a number of factors that determine how long is appropriate to wait after a BBL before travelling for long periods of time. 10-14 days is usually the shortest amount of time patients are able to wait before embarking on long distance travel. This is something to discuss with your operating plastic surgeon, however.

You can sit for brief (<10 minutes) immediately after BBL. I do not recommend sitting for longer than this for 2 weeks as I fear it may flatten the result. If someone needs to sit before this, I recommend they sit forward, putting the weight on the backs of their thighs rather than on the buttocks. This has worked well for my patients.
