What is the side effect of putting too much fat in your buttock?

Each patient is different and some patients simply can't handle too much fat.  If you inject more than a buttock can handle then it's like overfilling a cup... it just gets wasted.  For fat to survive, it must be injected into good healthy fat or muscle that has good blood supply.  If you take too much fat and just jam it in, you end up with a big ball of fat cell.  The cells on the outside will survive by getting oxygen and nutrients from the surrounding normal tissues, while the fat cells inside this ball of fat suffocate because there is no oxygen diffusion and no blood vessels have formed, yet.  It simply makes no physiological sense when people talk about these massive injections...

The maximum amount of fat to a butt augmentation is governed by two facts. One is how much is available for harvesting. If only 800 ccs if available then 400 per side is your limit. If fat availability is not a problem and the patient is wanting the maximum fat grafted, then the limit is by how much room there is in the buttock space. This is how tall and wide the buttock is, how loose the skin, etc. If one overfills the buttock and raises the tissue pressures too high then fat graft will die and you have hurt your final result. Chose an experienced surgeon and he will try to safely achieve your goals. Good luck.
