Is it necessary to use a soft pillow such as a boppy to help preserve results?Can I sleep on my back without damaging BBL results? My BBL was 12 days ago and I want the fat transfer to last.

Hi and thanks for your question. There are very specific protocols that we suggest to follow after a Brazilian butt lift. It includes the use of the Boppy pillow. When fat is transferred to the buttocks, the fat cells need all of the oxygen possible in order to survive. Fat transfers (BBL) require a rich oxygen environment in order to attempt the highest rate of survival of the fat cells. We recommend that our patients do not place any significant pressure on their butts for 4-6 weeks following the BBL.The Boppy alleviates the amount of pressure on the buttocks post-op. Good luck

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
Each doctor has their own protocol. It is very important that you talk to him about your concerns and goals. I recommend my patients not to sit for more than 30 mins. every two hours, for the first 2 weeks, and always with the help of a boppy pillow. If you have any concerns, I suggest you follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

Doctor's have specific recovery guidelines and it is best to follow your own plastic surgeon's. You have a little more flexibility in sleeping positions after about 2 weeks, but ask your plastic surgeon's office.

If you feel comfortable a pillow that is like a donut is ok. You can also sleep on your stomach.  I allow my patients to sleep in which ever position they feel comfortable after about two weeks.  Best to ask your surgeon.
