Thank you for your question. In Turkey where I perform my surgeries, nurses are not allowed to perform any surgeries. Their responsibility is to assist us during the operation. BBL is one of the riskiest cosmetic procedures. It must be performed by a qualified surgeon. Please do your research very carefully while choosing your surgeon. Best wishes.
Hello @Lovemybody1, thank you for your question. A lot depends on the state's regulations where you are going to have surgery. In order to make the right decision for your surgery, it is crucial that you consult with a number of specialists, get documentation about their work, ask for credentials and referrals, and decide on who you trust the most to carry out the surgery. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD FACS
The short answer is no, especially in the United States. Only physicians can perform these procedures. For your own safety, make sure the procedure is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience with this procedure. Also make sure the clinic or surgeon you go to does not have assistants performing any part of the procedure. Some clinics that are higher volumes tend to have "ghost surgeons" who perform all or part of the procedure. Dr. Andre P. MarshallDouble Board Certified Plastic SurgeonBeverly Hills, CA 90210
In Mexico is forbidden a nurse performs ANY type of invasive procedure besides those related to nurse normal activity: IV, meds, cleaning wounds, absolutely nothing else. Dr. Cárdenas
Dear Lovemybody1,BBL is a surgical procedure and only surgeons should do it. Nurses are not allowed to do BBL surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Even if it was legal (which it is not). You wouldn't want a nurse or even a non-board certified doctor to perform the BBL procedure for you. The risks far out-weigh the potential rewards when you go through someone that doesn't have the qualifications and certifications. It would be in your best interest to get multiple consultations and determine which board-certified surgeon is the best-fit for you.
Hi, Lovemybody1 and thank you for your question.BBL is a sophisticated surgical procedure that bears serious risks and requires deep knowledge and specialized skills on plastic surgery and knowledge on human anatomy&physiology. Nurses definitely are not allowed to perform such procedure.
Hello,Each state may have different regulations and extent to which an RN can perform a specific procedure. I'd consult with your individual state's board of nursing to get a definitive answer. Here in WI a medspa was recently shut down for attempting to perform office based surgery as it was out of their scope of practice. Nurses are permitted to assist in surgical procedures but that should be with a surgeon performing the procedure as well. The extent by which the nurse can assist is again something that will vary state by state.Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
Different states have different regulations about who can assist during surgery. in California nurses can take special training to become a surgical first assist. once someone can legally assist during surgery it’s up to the surgeons discretion how much they allow the assistant to do which could include the entire procedure.Choose your surgeon well by having multiple in person consultations at which time you can properly vet the provider and ask all appropriate questions.Mats Hagstrom, MD
Hi Eastcoastitgirl, Sorry to hear about your condition. Oftentimes surgery can exacerbate any underlying conditions due to stress and this can put you at an unnecessary risk during or after surgery. The risk vs benefits must be weighed in these situations as these cases are 100% elective and...
Thanks for the question. In this regard, I recommend you waist and back Liposculpture, getting better curves especially in the waist, improving your body contour. Finally, I suggested take the fat we get and transfer to the buttocks and hips, to mold them and get better volume, contour and...
There would be nothing wrong with having both procedures. You would be well served getting evaluated by someone who has a lot of experience doing each of these procedures. There are excellent surgeons who can do both procedures, even simultaneously. Learn about your physical restrictions...
