I am 44 yrs old. 5’4” I would like to wear a bathing suit maybe go to the beach. I had surgery to fix a cyst and it left me with a scar going down half of one cheek. I was wondering if a bbl would help fix this ? You can see it through my clothes so I always wear jeans and padded panties.
Answer: Wondering if a Brazilian Butt Lift would help improve the scar? Thank you for your question. To provide a valid medical opinion I will need to see pictures of you body from different angles. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results. Respectfully, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Assessments without pictures We can’t begin to make an assessment without seeing quality pictures. The treatment of pilonidal cyst can be pretty complicated and these can be deceivingly difficult to treat. Pilonidal cyst, pits or tracks represent a slight defect in the midline fusion of the lower back during embryological development. Some form of anomaly is fairly common in this area. The two sides initially developed independently and eventually fused in the midline. An example of a major failure to have complete fusion in this area is a condition called spina bifida. having a pilonidal cyst is in a sense having a miniature version of that condition. The cysts can have tracks that tunnel deep inside retaining bacteria causing recurrent infections. there is also anatomically challenging because of the movement and pressure of the area and proximity to contaminated skin. there are different described procedures but for challenging cases doing some type of rotation flap is often indicated. it’s not uncommon for people to have undergone multiple previous attempts of getting these to heal before getting a definitive procedure that actually works. sometimes those procedures will change the contour to some degree and leave scars. It is simply what’s needed to fix the problem. If you want us to make an assessment and tell you what can or cannot be done try posting quality pictures. It doesn’t sound like something a BBL would fix though there may be treatments to improve the contour or appearance of this area. Consider reposting with quality pictures or having a few in person consultations with local boards or to find plastic surgeons. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
