Hello,The cost of rhinoplasty varies from one surgeon to the other by geographic location, specific procedure performed and the facility it will be performed. There are many approaches and techniques for rhinoplasty and dorsal reduction is a part of this. The goal is always to achieve balance with the rest of the face while addressing the concerns. I encourage you to look at Before/after photos for each surgeon. Best Regards,
Shaving down a hump also involves lateral osteotomies to balance the nose and possibly some top work. Rhinoplasties rang in the $5k range

The cost of a rhinoplasty is directly related to the amount of time it takes to perform the procedure in an operating room, the amount of time it takes under anesthesia by an anesthesiologist, and the surgeon's fee for performing the rhinoplasty procedure. The dorsal hump is composed of the bone and cartilage and must be shaved down in order to remove it. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are then required to close the open roof created from hump removal. In many cases, the tip cartilages most also be adjusted to balance with the new bridge line. Shop quality, not price since the nose is the most prominent feature on the face. In Dominican Republic a board certified PS, should charge for a Rhynoplasty from 2,800 to 3,500 dollars. Some doctors offer all inclusive packs with surgery and stay.
The dorsal hump is composed of both bone and cartilage. An exam would be needed to determine if the hump could be rasped down or you need a rhinoplasty. In most cases a rhinoplasty would be needed to create balance and avoid flatness across the dorsum of the nose.
Thanks for your question. There are two parts to the dorsal hump. One is bone. The other is cartilage. Sometimes the hump can be almost all cartilage if the nasal bones are short. It makes a big difference because in such a case the bone does not need to be broken. The difference financially is because one is an osteoplastic rhinoplasty at a higher price because much more time and work is required. If it is only cartilage the price is lower. The only way to know is to be examined. Thanks
Thanks for your questions. The cost of a dorsal hump removal likely varies significantly from surgeon to surgeon. The biggest factor affecting cost would be if your surgeon participates with insurance. While a hump removal is almost always cosmetic and not covered if you have difficulty breathing than some of the functional portions of your procedure may be covered by insurance. Hump removal is a very common request, but often it is not possible to just take down the hump and have a great result, you may need more areas addressed to keep the nose in harmony with the rest of the face. There are occasions where just a hump removal is possible from an endo-nasal approach. This tends to be lest costly than a full rhinoplasty procedure. Hope this helps.
The costs for a Rhinoplasty will vary based upon what is required during the procedure. For instance, if a dorsal hump is shaved more than a couple mm's , the nasal bones will need to be broken to avoid an "open roof deformity". Photos of your nose front, side and base view would help in the evaluation. Costs also vary based on the reputation, location and experience of the Rhinoplasty Surgeon.
The nose will swell off and on after a rhinoplasty. It takes about a year to settle down into its final shape. Just be patient and follow up with your surgeon.
You should first understand that the surgery itself creates changes to the lining of the nose such that they are often more reactive to things for a few months and sometimes longer. In older patients or in revision patients that have had multiple surgeries these changes can be longstanding and...
Asymmetry in pain, swelling or healing are not uncommon. However, you should contact your surgeon's office and arrange followup. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
