I underwent a tummy tuck 7.5 months ago excess skin over the incision from 4 csections. I'm 41, very athletic (run marathons and do bootcamp style high intensity workouts). My doc is bd certified, but my results are underwhelming. I can barely tell the diff between before/after. She only did lipo along the suture line. Belly button looks awful (despite scar massage, gel strips, etc) and I don't think my waist looks any better than before. Do I need a revision, just more lipo, or what?
Answer: Abomen You need an examination to be sure, but based on your photos, you appear to have visceral fat which cannot be addressed except with weight loss. Please discuss this with your surgeon.

Answer: Dissatisfaction with abdominoplasty result 7+ months postop Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note 2 preoperative views, demonstrating a full abdomen and full flanks, and a small hanging abdominal panniculus. The postoperative views demonstrate elimination of the panniculus and a flatter abdomen. There still appear to be relative fullness of the flanks. Unfortunately, there is a hypertrophic scar about the umbilicus. Abdominoplasty does not address the flanks unless the procedure is extended laterally and posteriorly as an "extended abdominoplasty". In some individuals, this can be extended circumferentially around to the back, called a "beltectomy". While your abdomen is tighter, the flanks remain relatively full. Liposuction of the abdomen is usually not recommended during abdominoplasty as there are often blood supply concerns to the abdominal flap, A hypertrophic scar represents an abnormal response to tissue injury, resulting in deposition of excess collagen. Its prevalence is increased after infection or in wounds under mechanical stress. The scar doesn't grow beyond the boundaries of the original skin injury. There are non-invasive and invasive methods to treat these entities. Hypertrophic scars often spontaneously regress with time, the final scar noted when the redness of inflammation has subsided (usually at 12-18 months). The application of pressure and immobilization of a scar with silicone gel sheeting appears to hasten resolution of the process. Various creams are available, but their efficacy is questionable. Laser treatments are available with varying degrees of success. Injection of corticosteroids directly into the scar may flatten the scar and alleviate symptoms, but may also broaden the scar and cause pigmentary change in the skin locally. For this reason, we usually delay its use for as long as possible. Surgical scar revision is an option to consider if regression is not noted at 12 months after the procedure. Liposuction of the abdomen and flanks may be considered. Best wishes...

Answer: Achieving the best results Based on your photos your abdomen still looks protruding, you have dog ears and in my opinion your buttocks are saggy showing wrinkles in the bottom of the butt. I would re-do completely the TT and convert it into a circumferential Tummy tuck in order to do a nice tight Muscle repair to achieve a flat abdomen and tapered waist, dog ear resection and real buttocks lift. I would complete the beautiful transformation doing liposuction to your waist and lower back and transfer a mild volume to your buttocks and preserve the athletic look. Be encouraged! You will look fantastic! Dr. Cárdenas

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear emallov, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.
