I had a mini tuck a few years ago and the scar is quite long for a mini. I'd now like to get a full tummy tuck, but I'd like to use the same scar, so my side tattoos won't be affected. I know the tattoo on my stomach will get messed up and that's fine. The picture is from a week out of surgery, so the scar isn't healed and my stomach is still sore tight.

Answer: Abdominoplasty Scar Thank you for your question. With a full abdominoplasty, you can expect a scar from hip to hip. In my experience, I tend to keep the scar below the underwear line, so it is not noticeable when wearing a bathing suit or typical underwear. With that in mind, I would say the new scar would be in about the same area as your current scar, just longer.

Answer: Tummy tuck with mesh The mini tummy tuck scar will excised during the tummy tuck. You certainly do not want two scars. If you are not planning future pregnancies, I recommend abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
