Whenever a patient has surgery, we want them to be as healthy as possible to obtain the best result without complications. Your plastic surgeon will be placing sterile implants into your body and we would not want to have any active infections during this procedure. Your plastic surgeon will make the ultimate decision for your surgery. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Not all surgeons would have an issue with operating during a yeast infection. However, it depends on your surgeon and whether you are on antibiotics. Infections can make you more vulnerable to a wound infection, and it’s possible that your surgeon will delay your surgery until you finish your course of antibiotics, if you are taking any. Therefore, it’s best to contact your surgeon directly and let him or her know about the situation. Best of luck!
It is very unlikely that a vaginal yeast infection would have any impact on a breast augmentation. This is not a bacterial infection that could enter the bloodstream and colonize your implants or breast tissues. Nevertheless, there could be SOME small risk with proceeding. You should discuss this with your surgeon. If postponing even a few days is possible, then that would be the safest option. The yeast infection should be better by then if treated. Also, antibiotics given at surgery and possibly after can make the yeast infection worse, so definitely get it treated now.
