Hello,Thank you for your question. Your Plastic Surgeon will need to be the one to answer that for you. I advise my patients to wear their post-surgical bra for 8 weeks, avoiding underwire bras during that time. Ask your plastic surgeon what they recommend for you.All the best
Thank you for your question. In my practice I recommend that patients wear a light weight compression sports bra for four weeks (morning and night) following their breast augmentation. With that said, not every surgeon adheres to the same postoperative instructions so I would recommend discussing proper use of your sports bra with your plastic surgeon directly. I hope that you find this helpful and I wish you all of the best!
Usually 6 weeks is sufficient to stop wearing a bra during sleep. But I suggest you check with the surgeon that performed your surgery. Christian Drehsen, MD
Every patient is different and surgeons have different feelings on the use of postoperative support brassieres. Often, a bra has several functions. It can be used to help maintain the surgical pocket that the implant was placed into. It also serves to hold gauze and other bandages to help pad the breast following surgery which some feel comfortable. Sometimes, just the mere fact of wearing a bra makes it more difficult to turn over in your sleep in the early time. Following breast augmentation. It is always wise to follow your surgeon's advice. He or she should have reasons to explain to the result. It is uncommon to have to wear a bra after five or six weeks.
The answer to your question should be obtained from your Plastic Surgeon that performed your surgery. They will explain the reason and length of time expected of you to obtain the best result. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have patients wear a soft bra after breast augmentation for around 3 weeks day and night to splint everything, and at that point the scars are generally very stable and we move to normal bras (or none) and long term scar management.
On average and in general, I have my patients wear a bra for one week after their breast augmentation surgery to re-establish their crease under their breast. It's always best to check with and follow your surgeon’s protocol.
I would recommend first that you do contact the Board-certified Plastic Surgeon that you have chosen to perform the procedure, to discuss his/her personal recommendations. Our patients are encouraged to wear the Cobie bra that we provide to them at least 23 hours a day for preferably 4-6 weeks after their surgery. Doing so gives your newly augmented breasts optimal time to heal and increases the probability of a favorable outcome. We wish you the best and invite you to contact our office with questions!
Every surgeon's philosophy on this is a bit different. There is no right or wrong answer. In my practice I recommend wearing a bra as much as possible even at night. In the lying position the breasts will have a tendency to fall to the side. A bra will support this at night. Over years, without a bra, the space between the breasts or cleavage distance will widen as a result. Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula
I would recommend discussing this with your surgeon because each surgeon varies a little on post operative care. In our office you can stop sleeping with a bra after two weeks and transition into a regular bra at 4 weeks post op.
