Answer: Surgery You did not post photos, but liposuction could be considered to remove excess fat. with a tummy tuck, some areas cannot be liposuctioned for safety to the skin. Go back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns.

Answer: Tummy Tuck surgery It is not uncommon for some patients to experience a "muffin top" after a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). This can happen due to several reasons, including residual fat deposits, swelling, or insufficient skin removal. Here are some potential causes and solutions: Potential Causes Residual Fat Deposits: Fat may still be present in the flanks or lower back areas, which were not addressed during the tummy tuck. Swelling: Post-operative swelling can cause the appearance of a muffin top, and this can persist for several months after surgery. Skin Laxity: Inadequate skin removal or poor skin elasticity can lead to a less smooth contour. Muscle Laxity: If the muscles were not tightened sufficiently, this could contribute to the issue. Weight Fluctuations: Gaining weight after surgery can result in fat accumulation around the midsection. Surgical Technique: The initial tummy tuck may not have addressed the side areas effectively. Solutions and Options Consult Your Surgeon: The first step is to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. They can evaluate your specific situation and determine the cause of the muffin top. Liposuction: This can be a very effective solution for removing residual fat deposits in the flanks and lower back areas, which can help create a smoother, more contoured appearance. Revision Tummy Tuck: If there are significant issues with skin laxity or muscle laxity, a revision surgery might be necessary to address these problems. Compression Garments: Continuing to wear compression garments can help reduce swelling and provide additional support to the area, improving the overall contour. Healthy Lifestyle: Maintaining a stable weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise is crucial for preserving the results of your tummy tuck and preventing the recurrence of a muffin top. Non-Surgical Treatments: There are non-surgical options available for fat reduction and skin tightening, such as CoolSculpting, radiofrequency treatments, or ultrasound therapy. These can be effective in reducing small areas of fat and tightening the skin. Lymphatic Drainage Massage: This can help reduce swelling and improve circulation in the treated areas, potentially enhancing the overall results. Steps to Take Follow-Up Consultation: Schedule a follow-up consultation with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and explore potential solutions. Consider a Second Opinion: If you are not satisfied with the advice from your current surgeon, seeking a second opinion from another board-certified plastic surgeon can provide additional insights and options. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Focus on a healthy diet and regular exercise to maintain your weight and overall health, which will support the best possible outcomes from any further treatments or surgeries. By addressing the underlying causes of your muffin top and exploring the appropriate treatments or lifestyle adjustments, you can achieve a smoother and more contoured abdominal area.

Answer: Sounds like you may need a revision While it is hard to tell without photos or examining you it sounds like he may need a revision. This could be something as simple as doing some liposuction of the full area. Other options would be to do cool sculpting that would be a nonsurgical answer. I would return to the surgeon who did your procedure and talked to them about your concerns. Typically a surgeon will work with you because we all want to be happy with your final result. Good luck with this. Sincerely, Dr. Tucker

Answer: Muffin top after tummy tuck Dear Nettie25, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Muffin top Usually a muffin top is your lower back/hip area. This area can look like a "muffin top" after surgery because an abdominoplasty pulls everything in front so very tight and if you have pinch able fat in the lower back/hip area this will looks more emphasized naturally. I like to address this with liposuction in congruent with my abdominoplasties. If you are talking about a "fat pad" above the pubic area you will want to ask your surgeon if they Lipo suctioned this area. I always address this area as part of the procedure.
