Procedures I'm known for

Post-Pregnancy Procedures
Following childbirth, women’s bodies often change. Your breasts can sag, wilt away, or enlarge. Your tummy can stretch out, with the skin unable to retract and the abdominal musculature separated. With a mommy makeover, we try to get your body back to where you were pre-baby. The surgical procedure can be multifaceted, addressing several body areas at once. It often includes a breast augmentation, a breast lift, or a combination of the two. It also typically includes a tummy tuck to tighten abdominal skin, sometimes with liposuction to remove excess fat around the midsection. During a consultation at my Winston-Salem practice, we’ll decide which options you need to get you back to where you’re happy with your body and can move on with your life.
Breast Surgery
I do a lot of breast enhancement surgery at Salem Plastic Surgery, and it’s one of my favorite types of surgery. Good candidates are people who are dissatisfied with their breasts—they’re too small, too large, or too saggy. If you want to be bigger, the solution can be as simple as putting in breast implants. But there are various choices with implants, each with pros and cons: they can be placed above or below the chest muscle; there are silicone and saline implants; they come in various sizes and shapes. I individualize the procedure for each patient and her anatomy. At the other end of the spectrum are breast reduction patients who have breasts that they feel are too large. There are also people whose breasts may have drooped after having children, possibly making them candidates for a breast lift. Whether you seek a breast augmentation, reduction, or lift, we’ll discuss the different options you have to reach your goals.
Skin Tightening
I offer a host of procedures at my Winston-Salem surgical practice that can help tighten loose skin of the face and body. These include a facelift, eyelid lift, arm lift, breast lift, tummy tuck, thigh lift, and body lift. Another option is an advanced form of laser liposuction, Smartlipo TriPlex, that permanently destroys fat and tightens skin. It’s suitable for people who have excess fat—love handles, bat wings, muffin tops, saddlebags, or jowls—that’s resistant to diet and exercise. Smartlipo delivers an optimal blend of three laser wavelengths to remove fat and enhance skin tightening, so you don’t have to worry about dimpling or sagging afterward. Compared to traditional liposuction, Smartlipo has minimal downtime and causes less pain. I also offer PrecisionTx, a minimally invasive skin-tightening laser that helps contour the lower face, jawline, neck, and arms. The laser melts fat and heats up the collagen layer, causing it to contract and tighten.

Dr. Scott Tucker is a board-certified plastic surgeon and president of Salem Plastic Surgery in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A RealSelf Top Doctor, Dr. Tucker specializes in cosmetic and restorative procedures of the face, breast, and body.

Dr. Tucker knew from childhood that he wanted to be a doctor and became fascinated with surgery in medical school. He ultimately chose plastic surgery because “the profession affords me the opportunity to do what I love most—perform surgery and care for my patients. The creative aspect of working with each individual patient, whether reconstruction or aesthetic, combines my artistic nature with the opportunity to practice great medicine,” he says.

Dr. Tucker often jokes that he “graduated from the 27th grade” because that’s how many years he was in school to become a plastic surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed six years of residency training: four years in general surgery and two years in plastic surgery at Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education at Wake Forest University. He also completed a fellowship in cleft palate and burn reconstruction at the University of Southern California–affiliated Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.

Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Tucker is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A past president of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Tucker has also served as chief of plastic surgery of Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital in Winston-Salem.
