I had a deviated septum surgery done a couple years ago and it didn’t help improve my breathing at all and it looks way worse than it did before I got the surgery especially when I smile. Some pictures it looks fine but when I see myself in certain lighting or a video I can see it sticking straight out. Does it look crooked?
Answer: Septoplasty and the Effects on the Nose It is not uncommon that the nose does look worse after a septoplasty as well the airway is not improved. There are numerous types of septoplasty and some may not correct the entire septum and other may leave other sources of airway obstruction untreated, including turbinates and internal and external valves. The septum is the post of the nose and can be the source of deviation both before and after a septoplasty. A septoplasty can destabilize the nose making it look wider as well. A secondary rhinoplasty could help correct the issues and pre-operative imaging could help define the nose you would want.

Answer: Septorhinoplasty Surgery for a deviated septum alone usually does not change the shape of the nose. If the outside shape of the nose was altered, this is usually due to a rhinoplasty procedure, which can be performed in conjunction with a septoplasty. In any event, a rhinoplasty procedure is needed to straighten a crooked nose, and a revision septoplasty or turbinate reduction may also be needed to improve the nasal breathing. This would make the surgery both cosmetic and functional. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert such as a facial plastic surgeon who is comfortable with revision nasal surgery. All the best,

Answer: My nose looks worse after my surgery, can it be fixed? (Photos) Hello and sorry to hear your disappointment with your initial surgery. Looking at your pictures, you do appear to have some deviation of your nasal bones. It is difficult to fully assess based on these picture alone, but I would also be concerned with some loss of support to the nose and this could certainly result in nasal obstruction. I'd recommend consultation with a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who can examine your nose and assess what may be causing your nasal obstruction. He or she can discuss what options you have for repair. Hope this helps!
