Can a cold decrease Botox lateral brow lift effects because of irritation?

Question

I've just had botox injected in my upper forehead (so I can still lift the brows) and some to raise the lateral brow. I can already see great results in my forehead but the brow lift not so much. I just caught a bad cold and my eyes are very irritated and watery and I have a feeling that the muscles are pulling down because of this. Could the effects of botox be decreased because of this and I would need additional units after I get healthy again? Thank you very much in advance!

Having a cold or other slight malady should not alter Botox’s effects. When you create a brow lift using Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, just a touch of neuromodulator is used — a different set of injection locations is needed to quiet down forehead wrinkles. Therefore, you might actually be seeing the beginnings of efficacy but they’re so subtle you don’t notice. It takes Botox about two weeks to be fully active. You should notice your brow lift by the end of that time. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert injector if you’re not happy with your Botox brow lift two weeks from now.

Having a cold doesn’t affect Botox, but it might affect how you look, because your skin may be dehydrated. Botox takes up to two weeks to reach optimal efficacy. Once your cold clears up and you feel better, you should start seeing your Botox brow lift results, too. If you don’t notice an improvement within two weeks after your injection, go back to your board-certified dermatologist and ask for a little more Botox. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the dosage right for delicate procedures like brow lifts.

Your cold won't have affected the BOTOX at all. It may just be too early to assess the effects of the BOTOX and I would recommend waiting 2 weeks before considering any top up treatment.

It is very unlikely for your facial movements to affect Botox in a way that would require you to have another treatment. It is more likely that your dose of Botox for the desired effect is A. In the wrong location or B. Needs to be increased or C. Has not yet taken full affect if it has not yet been 2 weeks. I hope you feel better soon!
