Thank you for your question. Both ENT and plastic surgery residencies offer very little training in aesthetic rhinoplasty. It really does not matter the starting point. What is important is the individuals surgeon's commitment to learning the art form of rhinoplasty which takes decades. It definitely is a gray haired person's sport. You have to do 100's of rhinoplasties to achieve competence. An average busy plastic surgeon performs 1-2 rhinoplasties a month. That is just not enough to be competent. You have to seek out surgeons who specialize in rhinoplasty. For example, I perform 3-6 rhinoplasties a week. Also, look critically at the prospective surgeon's galleries and see if there are form resonates with yours. Best wishes to you.
Dear acoyt21 both ENT specialists and plastic surgeons can perform aesthetic rhinoplasty procedures. It's essential to choose a surgeon with extensive experience and training in rhinoplasty, regardless of their specialty. Look for a surgeon who has a thorough understanding of both the aesthetic and functional aspects of nasal surgery.
Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can understand from your question, it would be good to continue the operation with a doctor specializing in ent and facial plastic surgery.Best regards!
Hi from İstanbul! Rhinoplasty can be successfully performed by both ENT specialists and plastic surgeons. What's crucial is reviewing the outcomes your doctor has achieved and ensuring their aesthetic vision aligns with yours. So, make sure to do your research and see as many patient photos as possible that have similar issues as you do. Also, in more specific cases like ethnic rhinoplasty, thick-skin rhinoplasty, it is essential to find a surgeon with extensive experience in that specific area. Hope this helps!
Rhinoplasty is definitely a difficult and oftentimes humbling operation for the surgeon. An otolaryngologist or a plastic surgeon could do a good job if he or she performs many rhinoplasty surgeries per month and is adequately trained. It's always a good idea to review somebody's before and after galleries to ensure that they are robust and filled with results that you deem desirable. Wishing you well! Sincerely, Dr Joseph
Some ENT doctors are capable of performing rhinoplasty as well as some plastic surgeons. It depends on the individual. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Both plastic surgeons and ENT do rhinoplasties. You can’t generalize on who is better. There are good rhinoplasty surgeons in both specialties. You can tell a lot simply by looking at photos on their websites
Hi @acoyt21, Excellent question! I recommend a consultation with a FACIAL plastic surgeon which means they double board certified in ENT and plastic surgery of the head and neck. Best of luck, Dr. Ghazizadeh
ENT or plastic surgeon for a rhinoplasty? A rhinoplasty should be performed by someone who specializes in surgery of the nose. Some ENT surgeons do cosmetic rhinoplasty and others do only functional surgery for the nose. Some plastic surgeons do mostly breasts and other things, and only occasional noses. But others specialize in nasal surgery and perform mostly or exclusively nasal surgery. So it depends on the individual. It may be a plastic surgeon or an ENT surgeon as long as that surgeon specializes in,and does mostly, or better yet, exclusively, nasal surgery.
As a Plastic Surgeon and ENT surgeon, I feel comfortable stating that both specialties can perform rhinoplasty. Regardless of specialty it's important to pick a surgeon who has a strong practice in rhinoplasty surgery.
