When I catch a glimpse of reflection my lower face looks weak, saggy and too small, but when I pose and slightly protrude my jaw/chin, I actually like my side profile. Is there anything I can get done so that it always looks like the posed version of my face? I feel like jaw surgery would be too risky and extreme

Answer: Jaw enhancement your options are either jaw advancement surgery, genioplasty, chin implant, and/or filler depending on how aggressive/permanent you want to go. each of these come with their own risks/benefits so make sure to get good consults!

Answer: Mandible issues From your picture, it looks like you have a small mandible that has a fairly prominent chin projection. I’m guessing you have a dental overbite occlusion. Without formal jaw surgery, it’s going to be difficult to get any significant improvement. You should definitely not get a chin because your chin is already quite prominent. It’s not an easy situation to correct because it involves maintaining a healthy relationship between your upper and lower teeth. if you want to get an assessment then contact oral surgeons in your community. I don’t think you’re going to find fillers or other easy treatments to be very effective For this area. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
