Hi, I have what i call a big chin. A witch would be proud however, its pure fat not bone. My bottom lip essentially sits on my chin. Im not sure what procedures are available as when i search chin reductions its mostly surgeries that involve either breaking the lower jaw back in to place or, double chin surgery. Nothing for the fatty bit at the top of the chin

Answer: Chin reduction surgery The problem is mainly with the bone. Your chin is short in the vertical dimension and too far in the horizontal dimension. I would recommend a vertically lengthening genioplasty with a reduction in the amount of projection. The depth of your mentolabial fold is a clear indication of the problem. The surgery is performed in the office with sedation anesthesia. You can fly home within a few days.

Answer: How a chin reduction is done Most chin reductions are done by oral surgeons, but some plastic surgeons, especially those with craniofacial Fellowship training may have experience with this procedure. Generally, the procedure is done with the both skeletal and Satish components. Most people who need this procedure. Need some bone removed. I recommend you avoid the temptation of making your own assessment in regards to what procedure you need. Consult with either plastic surgeons or oral surgeons who have experience doing chin reductions. My best guess is you’ll have better luck with the oral surgery community. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
