I have decided to remove my breast implants. The only question remains - do I choose to have a breast lift at the same time the implants are removed? My details are as follows: Age; 37. Weight; 9 stone. Height; 5,6. Date of operation: August 2009 Implant: Allergan CUI Low Profile 260cc Placement: Behind the muscle Incision: Breast crease Bra size originally; 32B Bra size with implants: 32DD Based on my photos, I would be most grateful for your advice/thoughts.
Answer: Breast lift? From your photos it appears your nipples are in good position currently. When the implants are removed you will lose the volume that they provided so they may appear deflated to you. The implants have stretched the skin over the years in order to accommodate the implants but the skin will retract to some degree. If you are unhappy after you have fully healed you can return at a later date for a lift or perhaps a smaller implant.

Answer: Breast implant removal Hi, thanks for your question. Based on your photos, you would not necessarily require an uplift at the same time as implant removal. Your skin looks of good quality and you will get some tightening of the skin naturally over time following removal of your implants as you heal. If you did not like the appearance of your breasts once the implants have been removed, you could always consider an uplift at a later date if required.

Answer: Would you recommend a breast lift when I remove my implants? Hello, And thank you for the question and the photos. Following removal of breast implants without replacement, a patient may choose one of two options: do nothing and see how much the skin retracts and then decide about fat grafting or breast lift at a later point, or undergo a breast lift and fat grafting at the same time. Since you had small cup size breasts prior to undergoing breast augmentation, the breast volume and size will be similar after removing the breast implants, and the breasts may look more droopy (due to thinning of the tissues from the weight of implants). If the breast capsules are soft without any issues or evidence of capsular contracture, it is safe to just remove the implants without performing capsulectomy. Full mastopexy (breast lift) which will put your nipples into the correct position, make the areola smaller and allow excess skin to be taken away, giving you a more youthful and lifted breast appearance. Some people are a little apprehensive to the full breast lift due to the scars (lollipop or anchor), but typically they do very well and scars fade over time. But it's difficult to tell without in person examination. Fat grafting can also add additional volume to the breasts, sometimes more than 1 session is necessary. I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast surgeries to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. I hope this helps.Best, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Removal You might do fairly well with just the removal. However, if you want no sagging, then get a lift. Your surgeon who examinees you can help you decide. You might also consider going down in size. Remember, you were not happy with your breasts prior to surgery and may not be happy once removed.

Answer: Explant with Bellesoma Method The technique I recommend is explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained if not injured during your previous surgery. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Would you recommend a breast lift when I remove my implants? Hello @Good3113, thank you for your question. You can have a complete procedure where the prosthesis is removed, a total capsulectomy is performed, which is very important no matter how long you have had the prostheses, and a breast pexy is carried out to lift the tissue that has fallen due to the lack of volume. This is followed by a reconstruction to achieve an adequate aesthetic result. If you are considering a breast explantation, consultation with a plastic surgeon who is experienced in this procedure is essential to ensure optimal results. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
