Hi & thanks for your question. This is a question you need to direct to your surgeon. You may also want to check with your gynecologist to make sure everything is okay. Best wishes!
It is possible but likely recommended against. Removing a cyst could increase the chances of something happening with the implant that could result in issues later on. Ideally the procedures would be separated in time. I would recommend getting the cyst removed first and the implants later in case the cyst removal changes the shape of the breast. It is also important to understand why you are getting breast cysts and make sure any underlying cause is treated before augmentation. As always, be sure to research who performs your surgery to ensure the best likelihood of a positive result.
The answer is yes, you can have a cyst removed and have an augmentation of your breast in one surgery. In a first step your cyst will be removed and after successful removal an implant will be placed.
Hi there, yes it is possible to get a out while having a breast augmentation but it may not be the best idea. It depends on where the cyst is and what type of cyst it is. Sometimes, a cyst will have bacteria in it and stirring this pot could possibly lead to a breast implant infection or increased risk for capsular contracture. If it is a deeper cyst, it should also be fully worked up prior to breast augmentation just to make sure that it is not something else. Your plastic surgeon will advise you on the correct course of action for the type of cyst that you have.
Hello!Depends where the cyst is, and if there is concern for infection. If it is a cyst on your skin surface, it may be removed. If it is a deep cyst in the breast tissue, it cannot.Best of luck to you! Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon! You can find one at plasticsurgery.org.
Dear gkc26,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello, thank you for your question. It may not be possible to remove or find your cyst and perform a safe breast augmentation . I recommend you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Thank you for your question. It is possible to remove a cyst at the time of augmentation, but I don't think this would be the best recommendation. Cyst management would be best achieved by a general surgeon specializing in breast care, and it sounds like with your history this would be a good relationship to establish. The other aspect with a cyst excision, there could be a loss of volume and a change in breast shape. It would be better to proceed with any type of cyst excision first, allow for adequate healing and then proceed with augmentation which could take into account any volume or shape changes. The two surgeries have different goals, and I believe this would be the best way to proceed.Dann Leonard, MD
Thanks for your question. Yes, it is possible to remove a cyst during a breast augmentation, depending on the size and location of the cyst. Please discuss this with your PS before proceeding with the breast augmentation.Best of luck!
Typically the answer is yes but it depends on the presentation of the cyst and where it’s located. There may be other factors with the cyst that may need to be investigated but I’d consult with your board certified plastic surgeon and see if the removal can be done at the same time.
