I've got a lump on my nasolabial fold - is that normal? (Photo)

It is a hard to judge the results without seeing the photo prior to injection to understand the difference.  In my practice, I typically do not use Voluma to naso-labial folds.  My preference is to use Juvederm Ultra Plus for deep folds.  Nontheless, any filler can cause lumps and bumps if injected too superficially.  If the lumps you are referring to are visible then they should be addressed with the HA antidote.  However, if you simply feel them but the contour of the fold had greatly improved then you should just leave it alone.  it will settle over time.

Thank you for your question. In our practice we do not use Voluma in the nasolabial folds (NLFs) for the reason you just described. This portion of the face needs a product that is more malleable and can move with your facial expressions. Voluma is thick and intended to sit in place on bony structures. If the lumps don't reduce after massaging, you can return to the office and get hyaluronidase to dissolve the product. In your case, Voluma can be placed on the cheekbone to help lift the face which softens the (NLFs) and a softer product like Vollure, Restylane Defyne or Ultra Plus in the folds can follow. Layering on top of the filler with Sculptra (a product used to grow your own collagen) is also an added benefit.

Your nasolabial folds are quite deep.  Filling them with any filler is not going to flatten out the fold without bunching up the skin if it is put directly into or under the fold.  Injecting the material below your eyes will lift the skin and improve the lines somewhat. A lower face lift with sutures could be the next step and would support your cheeks for perhaps 18 months to 2 years.  An office face lift of the 'Lifestyle' kind would be more aggressive and last longer.  The Company that promotes'Lifestyle Lifts' has closed it's doors however. Lumps like yours improve with time and are more common with larger volume used.
