Hi, I am planning to get my cheeks done with Voluma (2 cc). Is it okay to drink alcohol after the procedure? Or do you have to wait 24 hours? Does it swell up around the mouth as well or does it look relatively normal afterwards?
Answer: Alcohol After Filler / Voluma Injections I have never seen there to be any problem with drinking after the procedure. Prior to however it is best not to drink for risk of bruising and swelling is high. Injection with cannula will limit any complications. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Alcohol after Voluma? Hi,Voluma by itself should not affect Voluma at all. However, we ask patients to sleep flat for two days after placement to avoid shifting on the cheeks. Drinking alcohol may inhibit your ability to do so and also worsen any bruising. I agree with Dr. Pilest that Voluma is absolutely amazing with micro cannulas with minimal injection marks and down time. Most patients can't believe how little swelling or bruising there is with micro cannulas.Warmly,Dr. Liu

Answer: Voluma and alcohol I advise patients to avoid alcohol for one week before Voluma injections and one day after to try to minimize bruising. Alcohol itself does not have an effect on Voluma, just on bruising.

Answer: Alcohol consumption after Voluma? Voluma is a great product for cheeks. As long as you just want to have a modest amount of alcohol post injection, there should be no issues.

Answer: Alcohol and Voluma This is a great question. There are varying opinions and instructions from physician to physician regarding alcohol, laying flat, activity, etc. after Botox and injectable fillers such as Voluma. To be honest, the vast majority of this advice has no scientific literature to back it up. Sure alcohol may cause fluid retention, vasodilation or any number of effects on the body; however, I have never restricted my patients' alcohol consumption before or after the treatment and have not experienced any adverse events. You may bruise after the treatment as you might with any treatment involving injections into the cheek; however, the incidence of bruising in my practice after injections of Voluma is less than 5% and those that bruise would likely have bruised regardless of alcohol consumption. I hope you enjoy your treatment.Cody Koch
