Thanks for the question. Typically the nose is very swollen and may even be bruised for the first week after rhinoplasty. The swelling in the nose takes a very long time to resolve. It will probably take around 3-4 weeks for you to see what the bulk of the work has provided to your facial aesthetics. However all of the swelling can take anywhere from 6-12 months to completely resolve. So there may be small contour abnormalities that go away over time. Also sometimes scar tissue may develop in a way that may also cause a contour abnormality. If you have any specific questions about your results you should definitely go back to your surgeon or you can even upload your before and after photos to this site. If you are not comfortable with either of those options you can always seek out another opinion. There are many surgeons in Northern NJ that provide FREE consultations.I hope this helps :)
Your nose is healed at 6 months. As for swelling, it can persist for a year or more for some individuals.
Everyone's healing process is different. Also, patients with thicker skin tend to take a bit longer than those with thin skin, and younger patients heal faster than older patients. Generally, patients feel comfortable going out in public 7-10 days from surgery, usually with little or no bruising. At 1 month substantial swelling has gone down but the nose will still have swelling. At 6 months substantial change has taken place, patients are quite happy, but they understand that the nose is still holding some swelling and that good things are expected in the next 6 months. At one year we can say that the healing is essentially complete. Even so, I see patients back at 3, 5, 15 years after rhinoplasty and additional refining of the nose occurs over that extended period, past the one year mark. This is a well known occurrence. You our can certainly send photos if you would like a more specific answer for you and your nose. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your question. In general 1 year is the overall time for healing of the nose. swelling wise, by 6 months 80 % of swelling is gone and the rest will dissipate by a year. everybody is different. Finally, make sure that your doctor isaware of your process. He should be able to guide you best in your care.Wishing you the best in your journey
I think it would be difficult to break your own nose in the manner you describe. Typically, it requires more force than that. Obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an evaluation.
