When can I have sex after an anchor breast lift?

Thank you for your question. I generally recommend waiting until all the swelling is down before engaging in sexual activity. So typically two weeks would be fine. However, I would not recommend a lot breast manipulation as part of your sexual activities until you are closer to six weeks.

Your plastic surgeon will give you the best answer in your specific case about this and sex. For most of my patients I allow sex to begin at 6 weeks with the woman on top to minimize the risk of trauma. Here are some of the guidelines I give my patients following breast reduction: Following surgery, you will be walking in a bent-over position to keep tension off the newly tightened skin incision site. Although strenuous activity, and lifting more than twenty pounds, must be avoided for 6 weeks, some people can return to work and daily activities as soon as 2 weeks after surgery. Softening of the surgical scars, return of sensation, and improvement of shape may take several months to a year or more. Light activity is comfortable in 10-20 days. Each surgeon has their own specific pre operative and post operative protocols and guidlines. It is best to ask your chosen surgeon. 

I am more liberal than most PS, but you must confer with your treating PS.  " gentle " sex can ge resumed when you are up to it and there are no medical issues. Remember , you  must treat your surgical wounds like a newborn  baby.  You must show the same care to your surgery site as you to a newborn. The first few days are critical, but as you heal, the limitations of your surgery diminish.

Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to specific instructions in regards to returning to activities. Generally speaking, best to limit strenuous activity for at least 2 weeks after breast augmentation surgery, assuming you are doing well and there have been no complications. Care should be taken during the first one to two weeks after surgery not to allow for elevation of heart rate, blood pressure, and/or direct trauma/contact to the chest wall. Again, generally speaking, most my patients are able to return to lower body exercise at the 1 to 2 week post operative mark, wait to lift/run for about 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. Swimming may have to wait a similar amount of time. Other exercises, involving the pectoralis major muscles, may resume several months down the line, if not longer. Again, address your specific questions/concerns to your plastic surgeon, who knows your situation best, and is ultimately responsible for your care. Best wishes.

Both questions are better addressed to your surgeon who will see you for follow up to monitor your course, and who is responsible for your recovery. Most surgeons allow patients back to work in 4-7 days given the description of your activity. As to sexual activity, most surgeons advice 2 weeks or longer.  Know that it takes about 6 weeks for the incisions to reach 90% of their ultimate healing strength.Good luck with your upcoming procedure, all the best. 

In my opinion you can have sex whenever you and your couple feel like it, avoiding damage to tissues manipulated during the surgery and any position that would make you feel discomfort or pressure over the breasts.About the work  I tell my patients to go back to work 2 weeks after surgery avoiding driving a car a lifting weight at work.Always ask your surgeon about your doubts and worries.

I would wait 4 weeks before applying any pressure on the breasts or elevating your blood pressure too high to cause bleeding.  Please ask your plastic surgeon for specific advice.

I think that  most patients should avoid exertion for 3-4 weeks. Most can go back to light duty at work within 4-5 days.  As far as sex, I think that you have to use common sex and give it a few weeks to heal, and would suggest limited exertion initially. I would always suggest speaking with your surgeon to confirm his instructions.

It is best if you can wait a minimum of 2 weeks before resuming that sort of activity. When resuming activity at 2 weeks it is best to be cautious and limit the movement of the breast until approximately 4 weeks. As far as returning to work you should be able to return to work, with restrictions of no lifting, pulling or pushing, about 4-5 days post op depending on how you feel. I have some patients that have surgery on a Thursday or Friday and return to work the following week on a Monday or Tuesday.
