Botox will not interfere with cataracts at all, you can get treatment without harm. Best, Dr. Emer.
It is best to get approval from your surgeon for Botox treatment one week post surgery. Also, you would require an office assessment with your dermatologist for a thorough history and physical assessment to determine if you are indeed a candidate for Botox.
I appreciate your question.Botox can be done at this point but I would still clear this with your cataract surgeonThe best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery.best of luck!Dr Schwartz
As long as you didn't have any complications with your cataract surgery, you may absolutely be treated with botox injections. Good luck!
Hmm, honestly, I have not been asked that question before even after years of treatments that I have employed Botox safely and effectively. My first response would be to simply ask your eye surgeon. I would think the answer would be that Botox treatments in the facial areas would not interfere with your cataract surgery recovery/results but check with your eye specialist. If you're considering Botox for excessive underarm perspiration then I think I can say confidently that Botox treatments would be safe.
There should be o problem with getting Botox after the surgery, but check with your ophthalmologist to be sure. Actually, many ophthalmologists do the injections and he may be able to do it for you
As a cataract surgeon and Botox injector, I would recommend waiting 10 days to 2 weeks after uneventful cataract surgery. The reason is this: the primary technique used by most surgeons today is no needle, no stitch cataract surgery. It takes about 10-14 days for the corneal wound to seal effectively and it is best during that time to avoid touching the face (one of the most common causes of infection). It's not uncommon to want Botox after cataract surgery, most people can see more clearly after surgery - including their own wrinkles!
Usually it's best to wait for swelling and inflammation to recede after surgery prior to receiving Botox. Any bandages that remain may also affect your outcome. Therefore, a safer period of 10-14 days is likely a better period. Best of luck with your surgery.
I would not anticipate any problems injecting Botox one week after cataract surgery, assuming that the surgery was straightforward with no complications such as infection, etc. If you are unsure you could always ask your cataract surgeon or wait a few more weeks before doing the Botox treatment.
If the surgery is healing correctly and there is no issues with vision, I do not believe that there should be a contraindication for Botox. I would consider discussing this first with your cataract surgeon before you move forward.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
