I am 4 weeks post op from a full tummy tuck and breast augmentation. 2 weeks ago I noticed that I was starting to sweat A LOT! I can continually wash my hair and it's greasy. 1 week ago I woke up with zits covering my back, chest, and now face. Can surgery mess with hormones? I have never had this happen. I eat healthy and excercise regularly. I asked my plastic surgeon and he doesn't seem to think this has to do with the surgery, but I wasn't like this before. Its so embarrassing!
Answer: Can hormones be affected with a mommy makeover? A mommy makeover typically involves cosmetic procedures like breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction, which are focused on improving a woman's physical appearance after pregnancy and childbirth. While these surgeries don't directly target hormonal changes, the recovery process and stress associated with surgery can potentially affect hormone levels temporarily. Stress, anesthesia, and other factors related to surgery can disrupt the body's hormonal balance, leading to changes in hormone levels. It's essential to discuss any concerns about hormonal changes with your surgeon before undergoing a mommy makeover. They can provide guidance on how the procedure may impact your hormones and offer recommendations for managing any potential hormonal fluctuations during your recovery. Additionally, consulting with an endocrinologist or hormone specialist can be helpful if you experience prolonged or severe hormonal issues.

Answer: Hormones & Surgery Thank you for your question. It is well known that the stress of surgery does temporarily affect stress hormones like cortisol. This is the body's way of protecting and healing itself after surgery. These changes usually correct themselves within a couple of weeks after surgery as your body heals. The changes you are describing may or may not be related to this temporary effect. It will be very hard to pinpoint. Give it some time and things should stabilize. Otherwise see a Dermatologist to help manage some of the issues you are experiencing. Best wishes!
