Is it possible for cheek filler to look quite natural. I’m not entirely sure what my face needs in order to look naturally prettier but I was recommended cheek filler. I’m a bit concerned it’s going to look quite intense. I was also wondering if it breaks down at the same pace. Will one cheek break down before the other?

Volume and contouring of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill, Contour) and Sculptra. Implants or fat are alternatives. Botox and radiofrequency can help slim and contour the jawline. Liposuction can help slim the face. Ultherapy, J Plasma and rf treatments can provide skin tightening and lift. There are a variety of fillers that can be used in the cheeks and it is possible for it to look natural if it is done correctly.  One cheek would not break down before the other.  The breakdown would be the same on both sides.

Thanks for your question. The use of cheek filler can certainly give natural results, although this is largely dependent on the amount and technique used (ie what plane(s) the filler is placed in). Assuming the same type of filler is used in both cheeks, they generally tend to break down at the same rate. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also be dissolved should any asymmetry remain.

Filler, when done properly, should absolutely look natural. However, much like asking someone to paint you a painting, who is doing it matters greatly. I would ask to see before/after photos from your prospective provider so you can get an idea of the types of treatments they do. If they should you multiple photos of patients with a "done" or unnatural look, then I would suggest you find a provider that meshes with your values and expected outcomes. Cheek filler should dissolve relatively symmetrically and it would be very uncommon for one cheek to dissolve significantly before the other.

Cheek filler is one of my favorite injectable procedures.  Adding some volume to the midface and cheeks really makes a difference for patients and not only does it address the cheek area but it can sometimes give you a small lift to the lower face and help with nasolabial folds.  I always recommend that my patients start slow and typically we will do 1 syringe per cheek and build on that.  In regards to your concern about breakdown, the filler should breakdown at the same pace unless one side of your face is used more than the other.  I think you will really like the procedure, just take it slow and go to a reputable injector.
