My experience with Dr. Truesdale and his team has been nothing short of gracious. My journey began after speaking with Maria and doing my research. The one-on-one consultation with Dr. Truesdale was incredibly personal—he made me feel secure, knowing that my needs and the best possible outcome were his top priorities. On the day of surgery, I was both excited and nervous. I tried to quiet my mind, but thoughts raced through my head—What if something goes wrong? What if he has an off day and I don’t get his best work? My anxiety grew, but as I began to pray, a wave of calm washed over me. Dr. Truesdale walked me through the entire process, but what stood out most was his extraordinary attention to detail. Just as he was about to leave the room, he paused, took one last look at me, and questioned his markings. With a smile, he pointed out that one side of my lip was slightly higher than the other. That moment reassured me—I knew I was in the hands of a true perfectionist. When I woke up from surgery, I couldn’t help but laugh—I looked like Gazoo with my head wrapped in layers of gauze! I was blessed to have Alex as my overnight nurse. She was patient, kind, and incredibly attentive—truly heaven-sent. The next morning, I returned to Dr. Truesdale’s office to have the gauze removed and see my 24-hour results. I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I couldn’t speak. The sagging jowls and tired eyes that had haunted me were gone. Now, three days post-op, I haven’t experienced any pain—only tightness in my skin and tingling as my body heals. The entire staff has been amazing and so kind. Cleo, the surgical scheduler, and Maria have made this entire process so much easier to navigate. As I continue to recover and follow the guidelines (even when resisting the urge to bend down feels challenging), I am trusting the process. Dr. Truesdale is simply the best—he is the real GOAT! I am beyond grateful to him and his team for giving me the confidence to invest in myself.
Dr. Truesdale is incredibly talented. I had a revision deep plane facelift. Dr. Truesdale has a magical touch and my incisions were so delicately done that they don’t show. He is so meticulous and makes sure you have a natural look, never the pulled, stretchy look. After the surgery I had NO pain and never took pain meds. I also had virtually no swelling!! He is an artist!!
First let me begin by saying that after trying to set up appoints, for the procedure, there was only 3 Dr. that new how to do it, sadly they claim they did, after spending 1,000 on consultations, I was fortunate to set a appointment with Dr Carl Truesdale, after asking him all the questions I was satisfy that he was the one, he is friendly, young which means that he is up to date on all the procedures which he explains to you with detail, he was the only Dr that didn't add more procedures then what I was there for, do I need to say more his staff are polite and knowledgeable and do there best to accommodate your needs, with that said, I had my procedure on March 7, 2023, I am quite confident that in a month from now I will download some pictures.SincerelyG. Sanchez
There are no words to express how grateful I am to Dr. Truesdale for all he has done for me. I’ve had plastic surgery before over my life time and was very apprehensive because of the pain and maybe my vision wasn’t the same as the doctor’s vision. I had gotten to a point where I was sad every day looking in the mirror at how I had aged and I felt like I didn’t want to go out. I found Dr. Truesdale on Instagram. An amazing facelift popped up and I knew I had to go see him. When I met doctor Truesdale, I felt I’d finally found a doctor that had the same vision as I did. I am truly blessed to have found him and all I can say is he went above and beyond!! Dr. Truesdale, Maria the office manager, and the staff made me feel safe and comfortable from the moment I stepped into their office. They never made me feel like I was asking too many questions or that I was bothering them. Their pre-op as well as their post-op care was stellar. I am happy to say that I have had my surgery. I had a facelift, neck lift, alarplasty, lip lift, lower lid and C02 laser and I am totally thrilled with the results. I can now look in the mirror again and smile. It has only been about 6 months and I am already going back to Dr.Truesdale for fat transfer to my hands. If you are thinking of having plastic surgery or if you’re on the fence about having surgery, please do your due diligence. Don’t hesitate to see Dr. Truesdale to find the magic he can offer you. If you have had other consultations, please don’t stop there. See Dr. Truesdale before you make a final decision on who will operate on your face, it will be worth it. This is a huge decision and you have to see the best of the best. Dr. Truesdale is a truly brilliant and innovative surgeon. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!!
Dr. Truesdale is one of the best plastic surgeons out there. There are plenty of choices, but I will recommend Dr.Truesdale all day long for a quality job! He’s caring, kind and definitely knows his stuff! The staff is excellent as well! After a couple of consults with Dr. Truesdale, I wasn’t afraid to go into surgery. This was huge for me. The trust was there, and I felt very confident moving forward. I had surgery for a brow lift, deep plane facelift, neck-lift and fat transfer. My surgery went very well and I healed incredibly fast. I know everyone has different pain levels but mine was minimal. I only had to take pain meds for three days, after that only Tylenol. I feel incredibly grateful to Dr. Truesdale for helping me restore my youthful beauty. He is my doctor for the rest of my life!
I don’t write many reviews, but I felt compelled to assist anyone who is looking for a fantastic facial surgeon. Dr. Truesdale is the business. He has an amazing personable personality, and extraordinary skills. I went in for a “Dimple Creation” and a “Revision Rhinoplasty”. We.had a very productive discussion about my expectations, and his.staff.made sure Every thing went smoothly. His staff called me and kept me updated every step of the way all the way until the actual morning of my procedures. it’s been about 30 days since the completion of my procedures, and every day that I wake up, I see the magic happening. Thank you Dr. Truesdale.
I am a repeat patient of Dr. Truesdale’s because of his amazing ability to understand exactly where his patient is and what their needs are. He gives his full attention, unrushed, in order to provide personalized service. I’ll keep coming back!
Everything about my experience with Dr. Truesdale was EXCELLENT. From the time I walked in the door for my consultation I was made to feel comfortable. And the Dr. is meticulous about his work. He did a WONDERFUL job. I would definitely go back to him again. In fact, I don't think I will ever use anyone else!! Thank you Dr. Truesdale!
I sincerely did not want to resort to writing a review about my *overall* horrific experience however, I am DEEPLY disappointed with how Dr. Truesdale office manager responded to my concerns about Skinbetter Science products that they sold me. Much like another reviewer wrote, the office staff comes across as a “aggressive cheap pushy used car sales” I can wholeheartedly relate. Initially, I chose this office because I was interested in their Daxiffy treatment because like the previous reviewer mentioned, all Dr. Truesdale really cares about is his Instagram image. I decided to give his office a chance because he did a great job advertising Daxify on Instagram. Fast forward to setting my appointment…. I have an out of state area code so during the appointment setting stage, the administrative assistant asked if I was sure I was actually in California. No big deal, but her question was somewhat of an eyebrow raiser moment. Since my appointment was the same day, the administrative assistant called me 2-3 more times to confirm that I was actually in California and confirmed that I intended on keeping the appointment. Again no big deal but certainly became apparent that they had zero confidence in my keeping my appointment.During the appointment, Nurse Jess had no problems telling me the secrets other practices use when I mentioned I had fillers in my neckbands but did not see lasting effects. Whereas, Nurse Jess oversold and under delivered with the sales pitch on Skinbetter Science products. Her presentation was so convincing that I asked what ingredients made this line superior to competitor products. She responded, “hmmmn that’s a great question” then started scanning the box to learn about the product line that she was so aggressively urged me to try. She eventually said, “it has a bunch of stuff but I know it’s supposed to be a good line.”Discovering Nurse Jess did not know much about the skincare line other than her personal conviction, I was apprehensive because it was apparent that she did not know enough about the product yet, PASSIONATELY presented it as a miracle skin care line.During my exit, the administrative assistant heard me say let me do a little research and think about it so she took over the sales pitch….only she knew the product line considerably more so than the medical staff. I recall feeling like the persistent sales pitch was reminiscent of a high pressure timeshare experience. On a positive note, not only did the administrative assistant speak eloquently and knowledgeable about the skincare line, it was her pitch that restored my hope that this line might be worthwhile. Even the office manager joined the conversation to help talk me into trusting the products. Again, the office manager was not nearly as knowledgeable about the actual ingredients that had the staff hyping the line like it was the best thing since pockets. I eventually bought into the hype and let them talk me into buying what I later discovered was the worst product experience I ever endured!Within the first few weeks of using the products, I noticed my skin was starting to show signs of significant hyperpigmentation. Initially, I was upset reflecting on the overall experience of spending an accumulative near $1500 on the visit yet, my skin actually looked worse. I eventually felt so upset and could not stop thinking about how the office treated me AS IF they had trust issues yet, they’re actually the ones that used disingenuous sales tactics to push a product that majority of their staff knew absolutely nothing about. Worse still, the office staff was oblivious about the highly ranked medical grade top skincare line for ethnic skin that has withstood the test of time. Equally troubling is when I finally decided to call the office and send pictures of my skin, the office manager made a point of heavily emphasizing “hmmm I’m shocked that you had such a bad reaction you’re the first person to ever complain about the skincare line.” Based on the office manager, (Margie I believe) heavy emphasis on doubting my concerns, I felt her response was insensitive as well as a subliminal. I reminded them that I have spent nearly $100k in surgeries as well as I am a near two decade business owner so please stop speaking to me as a welfare to work case. I also felt compelled to urge the office to look at the photo specs to see the date time and location because these folks put tremendous emphasis on how everyone else had a great experience with Skinbetter Science products.Eventually, after I vented and agonized about my adverse reaction, the administrative assistant surrendered a virtual visit with Dr. Truesdale. While on some level, I felt like this was a step in the right direction, I was shocked to find out that I had to wait an additional two weeks to see the doctor especially considering I agonized about the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday.Nonetheless, I waited patiently to see Dr. Truesdale because I somewhat understood he had a busy schedule. In doing so, I was shocked to find out the previous reviewer had valid reasons to say Dr. Truesdale really only cares about his social media presence. My personal experience was Dr. Truesdale was not an empathetic listener whatsoever! Throughout the visit, he **REPEATEDLY** interrupted me to the extent that I had to ask several times whether I could finish my statement which he assertively continued to over talk me. I actually pointed out to Dr. Truesdale that my venting was part of the emotional relief because I spent weeks walking around having to shield my face and neck discoloration. Not only did Dr. Truesdale make me feel like he was consumed with responding vs giving me sufficient opportunity to complete my thoughts, he even scripted his nurse response prior to letting me hear what she had to say. As much as I wanted to like this practice as well as be proud of Dr. Truesdale for making it to Beverly Hills AND not be the one to write a review, I wholeheartedly felt Dr. Truesdale came across as so what you suffered such a horrific adverse reaction but you’re the first patient to complain about the product, get over it I have other patients waiting. I literally had to remind Dr. Truesdale that we weren’t even halfway through the 30 minute appointment time that he set aside for me. Despite my plea for empathy, it was apparent that Dr. Truesdale really preferred that I shut up and wasn’t invested in even giving the allusion that he genuinely cared. That being said, I am disappointed because it feels like my concerns were trivialized and I basically paid nearly an accumulative $1,500 for the visit only to endure nearly two months of looking worse.I will say however, they offered me a $400 refund forwards the products. While this seems redeemable, I have yet to hear from Skinbetter Science as the office initially claimed that I would. So essentially, I suffered at my own expense!
I paid a non refundable $200 dollars for a consultation that was mediocre at best. Dr. Trousdale used a cheap photo phone app to depict what the possible outcome of surgery would be. No state of the art equipment here. I was quoted about 35k for what he recommended (full facelift, neck lipo, fat transfer, buccal fat removal, eyelid surgery.), all which for my age (42) is laughable. Not only that, but the estimate had no written deadline or expiration, which only became an issue after the daily calls from his office manager, Maria, asking if I wanted to book the surgery. After the first 2 weeks of incessant calls, I advised her that I needed to get some personal things in order before I would consider scheduling. She seemed to understand and I didn’t hear back until a few weeks later (less than a month) in which she called and asked if I was ready to book since my estimate was about to expire. I explained again my situation and she stated “oh well, I tried.” She also stated that if I wanted an extension I needed to leave a non refundable 1k deposit to hold the anesthesiologist. I told her I wasn’t quite ready for all that but after I hung up, I realized that I was never told I had a deadline to book so I looked at the paperwork and in fact, there was no deadline. I messaged her about it and after ignoring me for a while, I informed her that I would be leaving a review in regards to this and she quickly called me and tried to retract her rude demeanor. She offered to extend the estimate for another month which I declined. The truth is I didn’t get a good feeling about Dr. Trousdale to begin with. He gave me sociopath & narcissistic vibes. He literally said to me with big crazy eyes, “I was born to do this.” It creeped me out especially since he’s only in his early 30’s. The whole vibe was very pushy cheap car dealership, to me. All they cared was that I booked asap, nothing else. Honestly, I would say, to stay away. He’s all about his social media presence, not truly a professional. Seems like he’s hurting for money & ”closing” clients and just making money off his “consultation fees.”
It is possible that the Botox could slightly increase your upper lip length, but we actually inject Botox in this area to do just the opposite (Botox lip flip). This everts the lip and shows more pink lip. To some degree it depends on which part of the muscle you are injecting. To crease a lip flip, I focus my injection closer to the vermillion border (orbicularis oris muscle) to weaken the portion which is responsive for curling the lip inward. When injecting for gummy smile, I usually try to target the levator muscles. It is possible to help with botox, but it may require a little trial and error to get it 100 percent to your liking as it is a very nuanced and delicate injection your require.
Although I am limited by the photos, it appears that your ala do widen with smile excursion which is normal to some degree. The nose is nicely balanced at rest, but with smile I recognize your concerns. The muscles which cause you to smile act to pull the alar (notril) soft tissues laterally and superiorly. This effect cannot be fully diminished with botox as it would cause some degree of facial paralysis to inject the main smiling muscles (zygomaticus major/minor/risorius). It can be worth a trial of a small amount of botox at the depressor septi muscle which appears to be pulling your tip down when you smile and enhancing the effect. You physician can also place a judicious amount of botox at the levator labii superioris alque nasi muscle as well. This is always a balance because weakening the dilating muscle can cause unwanted nasal obstruction. Filler would not be a good option for your concerns.
It appears that the primary cause for your gummy smile is hyperactive upper lip elevators, but you do also to have a slightly longer premaxilla which contributes to your gummy smile as well. Well placed botox may help this. This is a good first treatment before consideration of more aggressive surgery like LeForte osteotomies or orthognathic surgery should be considered. In reality your upper lip length does match well with the length of your mandible (chin/jaw) so care should be taken when considering any surgical interventions.
It is unlikely that you will develop and significant PIH with the cannula technique. In fact, with the cannula technique there is generally only one insertional hole needed which limits the amount of times the skin would need to be punctured. I treat many people of color with history of PIH and have never experienced any PIH with my undereye cannula technique.
It has been observed that some people develop antibodies or intolerance to neuromodulators. In this case, it is worth a several month hiatus and then reassessment with larger doses. The other option is to weaken the muscles with a endoscopic brow lift. During this procedure, the brow can be lifted and the muscles in the glabella excised/cut. Although there is evidence that muscle function does return, many surgeons anecdotally report that the activity is never as strong as it previously was. You are frowning in the photo, but if you were a candidate for a brow lift otherwise this technique could be considered.
