You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety.  Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Liposuction after TT can be intrinsically more difficult and require more skill due to the underlying scar tissue, which results in irregular surgical paths and false pathways. These procedures require precision, patience, and perseverance. Obtain a second opinion from a board certified PS who performs hundreds of abdominal enhancement surgeries each year with favorable patient reviews and galleries of before and after photos on his/her website showing you abdominal lipo results.

previous tummy tuck surgery is not a contraindication for liposuction. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult another board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction after a TT is actually fairly common and I don't see why any board certified plastic surgeon would have a problem with it. An in-person examination plus, if necessary, an abdominal ultrasound should rule out any doubts or abnormalities. Without at least seeing your photos, I would have to take you on your word, because I do not know what he saw to think this would be risky. Thank you for your question. I frequently perform liposuction of the abdomen on patient's who have had an abdominoplasty in the past to further contour and define the abdomen. Perhaps a picture would help identify why the surgeon you talked to was against performing lipo in your abdomen. I recommend a consult in person with a board certified plastic surgeon to go over your goals and expectations and create the right surgical plan for you.

Thank you for your questions.  I personally do not see a problem with having liposuction after a tummy tuck.  Yes there maybe some scar tissue there and it can be improved.  Although each surgeon will have their own protocol they wish to follow that they are comfortable with.  My suggestion is to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has experience with both procedures and have a consultation.  Best of luck to you.

In my practice, over 50% of my body sculpting patients are redos from other surgeons' poor or suboptimal liposuctions and tummy tucks. It is more difficult due to internal scarring, I use the VASER liposuction technique which is extremely beneficial in cases like yours. You should not forgo the liposuction of the abdomen, but you should forgo this surgeon.See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Its perfectly safe to work on the abdomen after a tummy tuck, just make sure you go to a lipo specialist who has technology such as vaser to melt any encountered scar tissue. The procedure is common and can be done under local or general.
