I am interested in getting canthoplasty to make my eyes more almond shaped. After doing a little research, I came across information that may suggest the canthoplasty procedure will not last? Is this true? Will canthoplasty make my eyes smaller (not the effect I was wanting though). Also, do I appear a good candidate for cosmetic canthoplasty to achieve a more almond shaped exotic eye shape?
Answer: Canthoplasty Hi, a canthoplasty can nicely enhance the shape of your eyes. We usually say there is about a ten year shelf life on most facial plastic surgeries, as you will continue to experience the dynamic changes of aging. This may mean that you may need an adjustment or revision down the road but just as likely you won’t. A canthoplasty does not necessarily make your eyes smaller but just a different shape. Make sure to visit an experienced oculoplastic surgeon for best results.

Answer: Canthopexy would help Good morning! Lid photos can be tricky- a bit on angulation in the camera can alter the appearance of your true lid position. That being said, in the photo you have provided you do have a bit of scleral show- meaning you are showing a fair amount of white below and lateral to your iris. A lid tightening procedure would in fact give you a a more almond shaped eye. A far as longevity, a properly performed canthopexy is permanent- while you will continue to age, your lid position would remain relatively static. You also appear to have a bit of volume loss in your midface that also is contributing to your lower lid position. This should also be addressed with your canthopexy to optimize your result. Be sure to see a surgeon well versed in these procedures before moving forward. I hope this helps

Answer: Can be done If this is what you want it can be achieved. Skin and tissue on the side of the eyes is adjusted to reposition things for a more almond shape. It doesn't have to make your eyes smaller at all.

Answer: Will a canthoplasty help me? Thank you for your question and your photo. There are many factors that go into the choice a procedure such as a canthoplasty that cannot be determined from one still photo. The dynamic exam of lid elasticity, projection of the yes and a thorough discussion of what you wish to achieve and what is physically possible is critical to choosing an appropriate procedure for you. In general a canthoplasty can help to create a more almond shaped outer canthus when performed on the appropriate patient. No surgery will last forever, however, as the aging process and the ensuing loss of skin elasticity will continue to progress. How long this will last is dependent on a number of factors. I suggest you make an appointment for an in person exam and consultation with a fellowship trained Oculoplastic surgeon. That will give you he best chance of finding a realistic treatment plan. There are many of us in Dallas. Best of luck.
