I am interested in getting canthoplasty to make my eyes more almond shaped. After doing a little research, I came across information that may suggest the canthoplasty procedure will not last? Is this true? Will canthoplasty make my eyes smaller (not the effect I was wanting though). Also, do I appear a good candidate for cosmetic canthoplasty to achieve a more almond shaped exotic eye shape?

Answer: Can be done If this is what you want it can be achieved. Skin and tissue on the side of the eyes is adjusted to reposition things for a more almond shape. It doesn't have to make your eyes smaller at all.

Answer: Will a canthoplasty help me? Thank you for your question and your photo. There are many factors that go into the choice a procedure such as a canthoplasty that cannot be determined from one still photo. The dynamic exam of lid elasticity, projection of the yes and a thorough discussion of what you wish to achieve and what is physically possible is critical to choosing an appropriate procedure for you. In general a canthoplasty can help to create a more almond shaped outer canthus when performed on the appropriate patient. No surgery will last forever, however, as the aging process and the ensuing loss of skin elasticity will continue to progress. How long this will last is dependent on a number of factors. I suggest you make an appointment for an in person exam and consultation with a fellowship trained Oculoplastic surgeon. That will give you he best chance of finding a realistic treatment plan. There are many of us in Dallas. Best of luck.
