On my left cheek, the bottom part seems swollen and is painful. Not all the time just sometimes. My other check feels normal. Like is it part of my body but my other cheek where I'm having the complications feels like heavy and gets painful. Please let me know what you think. My surgeon is in Florida and I am in Texas so going to see him is not ideal. Worse comes to worse I will end up in the ER.

Answer: BBL: Is it possible that I have an infection? Thank you for your question. Redness, swelling, heat, and pain are all signs of infection. While you only report one of these, infections should be addressed immediately when present. Best is to discuss specifically with the operating surgeon so that he /she can take a look. Good luck!

Answer: Infection After BBL If you are having concerns after your procedure, it is important that you notify your surgeon, even if you are in a different state. You should be able to send mess Infections typically occur within 1 - 2 weeks following surgery. Infections are usually treated with antibiotics, more severe infections can require operative management (i.e. - drainage, debridement). Again, follow-up with your plastic surgeon would be ideal, if not, perhaps you can send him or her photos or arrange a video consult. Good Day, Nicholas Jones, MD
