Follow your plastic surgeon's advice. Plastic surgeon preferences for BBL post-operative guidelines vary depending upon experience, education, training, certification, and patient feedback among other things. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has his or her own protocol for what they feel will produce the best results. There is no standard because there have not been any definitive studies to prove that one thing is better than the other. That being said, your best best is to follow your surgeons instructions as closely as possible. Best of luck!
Dear NaNa_,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Dear Nana_,Each surgeon will have his or her personal preferences for the recovery of their BBL patients. There is no evidence based literature to support sitting or not sitting, BBL pillow or no pillow. In my practice I recommend no sitting for 2 wks and optional for the BBL pillow. Sometimes the use of a BBL pillow gives a false sense of security and the patient might be inadvertently creating pressure on their buttocks. For surgeons that fear this scenario the best thing to instruct is no sitting at all. Gooc luck!
I think that you are going to find varying instructions from different surgeons. You are best to ask your surgeon his thoughts.
In my practice I ask my patients to not apply pressure to their buttocks for 10 days. There is no literature to support that pressure or sitting leads to more fat loss. It is just a personal preference of mine to maintain the shape that I create in the operating room. I am fine with my patients using certain types of post BBL pillows (Booty Buddy).
Hello, thank you for your question. Every surgeon has their own preferred recovery plan with BBL surgery. Some surgeons emphasize using the "BBL pillow", while others educate patients on other ways to rest. I personally do not utilize the BBL pillow because I feel that positioning regular pillows at certain angles during those first few weeks of recovery work very well and do not disrupt fat placement. Make sure you follow your own surgeons post operative plan for you. Good Luck!
Congratulations on your recent surgery and thank you for sharing your question about your post operative recovery and results after your surgery. Final results can take 6-12 months for all the swelling to subside. At our office here at CARE we actually see all of our surgery patients the very next day after surgery and then again at two weeks and beyond. We enjoy staying closely connected to our patients and enjoy giving the extra attention and service. Your concerns are important to discuss directly with your board certified plastic surgeon. He or she will appreciate the open communication and will want to help you. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the very best. Sincerely, Brian S. Coan, MD, FACS
No one can objectively answer that question. Everyone however well universally dream that smoking is a bad idea in general especially before or immediately after any surgical procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
Recommend that BBL be performed before the TT. Liposuction of the abdomen, back and flanks results in a waist as small as possible. Unfortunately, liposuction would debulk the fat but would not address any abdomen skin issues. The TT with muscle and hernia repair will be the only surgery to...
Hello montezrobinson8 - Based on the photos that you have provided, it appears that you would be a good candidate for a BBL.The Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure designed to transfer fat from one area of the body, typically the stomach and thighs, hips, knees, and back to the buttock through ...
