The survival of fat cells depends upon nourishment from the body's blood supply. This blood flow is restricted when breathing even secondary smoke. At 6 weeks the fat that survives should be permanent, but smoking may compromise some portion. This would be purely speculative, and I am not sure that anyone knows the answer.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
The fat cells that are transferred, survive on the local blood supply and derive their nourishment from it over a period of time. Smoking directly affects this blood supply, and therefore interferes with the survival the fat. It would hamper the result to an extent.
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, no one can tell you how much fat you lose secondary to smoking. What we can say is that the new fat cells must develop a new blood supply shortly after being transferred. Smoking (even second hand smoke) effect the amount of oxygen delivered to the tissue. The less oxygen, the more fat loss.Best to abstain from smoking for at least 5 days before surgery, and 2-4 weeks after.
Smoking increases the risks of complications. I can not give you an exact number as to how much fat will not "take" if you smoke.
No one can objectively answer that question.Everyone however well universally dream that smoking is a bad idea in general especially before or immediately after any surgical procedure.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
Recommend that BBL be performed before the TT. Liposuction of the abdomen, back and flanks results in a waist as small as possible. Unfortunately, liposuction would debulk the fat but would not address any abdomen skin issues. The TT with muscle and hernia repair will be the only surgery to...
BBL can help the right candidate to achieve a more contoured look. Based on your photos it appears that liposuction and strategic fat transfer would benefit you. It's best to have a thorough in person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss all of your t...
What if the doctor injected the same amount on both sides and both sides did not expand to the same degree?
Best to ask your plastic surgeon for his/her recommendation. I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow (boppy or BBL), for the first two weeks. If they must sit, every 30 minutes or an hour, they should get up and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off. ...
Dear Amanda_06,it is hard to tell without an examination and more details. In most cases MIrena uses hormones so it should be probably removed prior to surgery. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon and gynecologist. Only after a thorough examination you will get more ...
Cost factors vary significantly for a number of good reasons: Prices vary greatly because the surgery itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery ...
